I am a looong time Marlboro medium smoker and badly need to quit them.
I have been doing a lot of internet reading on this e-cigarette stuff and am beyond confused about which one to get and how to use them. I of course need to get a starter kit. I want to get a good quality, lasting cig that basically is a marlboro medium. Can somebody please help me with this? Please feel free to ask me any questions you may need to qualify me. I have read the faq's and a lot of threads in them and am still just confused.
Thank you soo much in advance... Bryan

well the equipment doesn't really matter if you want it to be like a Marlboro medium cigarette...that's the juice and is another whole ball of wax you're going to have to deal with. The only way to find one you like is to experiment, trial and error till you find a juice you like and that suits you.
Now as for the equipment that will deliver your perfectly flavored and nicotine balanced vapor...that's different. You're going to get lots of recommendations (I'm sure) because everyone has their favorite devices (and there's TONS of them out there).

But for newbs like us I say you can't go wrong with the Joye 510. EVERY device is going to have its pros and cons, none of them are perfect, but the 510 hits a happy balance between ease of use and enjoyment of use for me. It produces lots of smooth vapor, but drains the battery reatively quickly.

I get by with a PCC (Personal Charging Case) and two batteries. By the time one battery is dead, the other one is all charged up and ready to go. I bought and extra atomizer as well just in case...you should always have a spare.

As for the liquid....buy some trial size juices from a couple different places. Nhaler.com has some good deals on trials and has an assortment of tobacco flavors that may suit your taste. Your going to HAVE to try around with them until you find something that suits your taste (but you might get lucky and find it quick).

The strength of the nicotine juice is going to be an important consideration. I went too low with my first juice (11mg/mL) and still feel the urge to smoke analogs even after some serious vaping. I'm stepping up to the 24mg/mL strength juice, and if that's too much I'll drop to around 18mg and hopefully settle in there.

I'm not gonna recommend what strength you should start at, b/c I have no idea what your nicotine requirements are. I smoke a pack of parliament lights daily when not vaping and I take long drags and inhale deeply. That's (again) something you're going to have to figure out for yourself.

I too need a little help in the ecig department. I already made a mistake and bought a starterkit that I'm stuck with now because the company won't take back merchandise. "All sales are final". They didn't tell us that until the sale was done. Any other info out there would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I bought a blu cig starter kit my first time. I haven't gone back to anolog cigs since. Although the blu carts are garbage....i strongly recommend johnson creek smoke juice.
I love their juice. Buy the sample pack, it lasted me almost a month, for $20 bucks. I recently upgraded to the 510...can't wait till i get it. Why did i upgrade. I am sick of filling the blue cig cart every 5 min.

Birds of a feather!

I smoked Marlboro Mediums as soon as they where invented.

Here is the long version of my story:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/39555-skeptical-smoker-trying.html

The short version / shopping list I recommend:
(all prices approximate)

$50 Joye 510 Starter kit. (2 complete e-cigs with charger and 5 carts)
$10 - $20 for 16ml - 50ml of "Marlboro" 24mg juice. "Virginia" is also good.

Optional but recommended you order soon after:
$25 510 PCC This acts as an extra portable charger and carry case.
$10 Atomizer as a spare.
$15 Battery as a spare.
Trial size juices or sampler pack to find the best flavor for you.

Vendors I have dealt with who had great service and prices:

eCigarettes and eLiquid from Awesome Vapor (Gives a free sample flavor with juice order)
www.rockymountainvapor.com (Free shipping, large size juice bottles)
Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. (cheap prices on 510 kits and PCC)

This is what I've done and am happy with. I'm sure others can suggest different equipment and different vendors they are happy with also.

If you're looking to quit altogether or to reduce or supplement analog use, a M401 would be a reliable and inexpensive choice. It's about the size of a 100's cigarette and pretty nicely balanced. A 306 is also a good choice. If you're expecting to continue using nicotine for the rest of your life, then you might want to just look at the mods right off the bat.

The beemer of ecigs IMO is the M401 which has a longer battery life than the 8084 and 306, but they are also inexpensive alternatives, "exposed" atomizers (no metal shell around them like the 4081 or 510) are easy to keep clean, small carts, but they will definitely help you titrate in the beginning - 6 carts a day will equal roughly 2ml of e-juice. You can also buy three lengths of the M401 battery, so you can have king size, about a 100's size and a tad longer than a 100's size cigarette. Shop around the supporting vendors here, take notes on their prices and what their kits contain. Dont spend more than $50 for a kit- check out the coupon code thread or the supporting vendors' individual threads for their coupon codes for checkout time (most will give you 5-10% or more off by being an ECF member and using the code). Ideal is at least 2 atomizers and 2 batteries although you can get by with the standard one atom and two batteries (one to use one charging) if you're not going to try a bunch of flavors or menthol or if you're not sure if e-cigs are for you. Most vendors use priority ship, so if you need a part, it's only two days away. and if you decide the M401 or 306 or 84 isn't for you, you can always turn around and sell it here in the swap/trade section, basically for what you paid for it since others are always looking for new things to try (it's a new hobby in and of itself lol)..

Expect to buy a new atomizer/battery combo each month (a few packs of ciggies cost to you) but, that said, I'm still (knock on wood) using the same 401 atoms as I started with 75 days ago. If you decide you like the M401, then definitely get a passthru for at-home bythecomputer use to save your batteries for out and about. A reading-glasses case makes a cheap and handy holder.

Most newbies get one bottle of say, 11/12mg and one bottle of 24mg and one bottle of zero mg or just plain PG or VG. Now, to me....11mg was OhMyGoodness, I am NOT doing this to get high!! and numb-feeling!! and I immediately dropped down to 6mg (now 3mg headed to zero) where I was very comfortable. Your mileage may vary. It seems some of the younger crowd go straight for the 24mg. It may be harder to find lower nic level products than the higher but they are out there.

I've always treated the e-cig the same as a regular cig - not chain-vaping, since I didn't chain-smoke. So, once an hour or so, etc., and no vaping in places I wouldn't have smoked before, like theatres, shopping centers or supermarkets. I filled my ashtrays with colored glass COPYRIGHTDMCA (99cent-store) so my e-cig rests horizontal across them, and keep the batteries in them at night connector side down.

A few vendors have small sample packs of tobacco flavors. Some marlboro smokers like the winston flavor, some find a good marlboro right off the bat, some marlboros are not quite marlboro, some marlboros are only marlboro when you add another tobacco flavor to them. You might decide it's not the marlboro flavor that'll keep you off analogs but maybe doublemint or cola.

If you are trying to quit, try to fight the urges and exercise thru them, but if you find yourself lighting up, don't beat yourself up. Just go back to the ecig and keep trying.

If you're just looking for a cigarette substitute, then be aware of exactly how much nicotine liquid you're taking in on a daily basis. comb the threads for discussion on this. Maintaining a habit doesn't mean increasing your tolerance, right?

I think you will be pleasantly surprised how easily ecigs can replace the analogs in your life - I was :)

Hope this helps!

I would defiantly recommend the M401 I have used one for 3 months and only vape now. Good kit for around $40.

All good advice, look for sample kits and look for e-coupon codes you can find them at e-cig-reviews (dot)com. The guy does really good video reviews and has a bunch of coupons. I have found it can be expensive to keep sampling juice and I'm a gadget junkie so it is easy to keep buying stuff :) I bought an evo from intellicig in the UK than gave it to the wife and got a 510 titan from TW in the states both work great. She likes the flavor of the carts from intellicig I like to try different flavors and I like the manual batteries. She did have one complaint that the auto batteries go off with noise in the case she uses which drains them. I have to buy her a case with cushion in it, so I get to go shopping again woot ! Flavors are totally individual taste I have read tons of reviews and watched tons of videos and I still have a bottle of 30 ml Camel 18 mg (camel Light smoker for 20 + yrs) that I don't like at all. Awesome vapors have a nice 10 bottle 3ml size sample set with a nice selection of tobacco flavors.

Good Luck
