I bought my Atlantis 2 tank two weeks ago. Have loved it from first puff and I've bragged about it several times on here lol. I've had the same .5 ohm coil in it for the whole two weeks. Just last night I started to feel that the coil needed to be replaced, so I popped in the new one (another .5 ohm)

I took the coil out of the pouch and saturated it with juice. I dripped juice on all of the feed ports on the side until it was absorbed and then I did a ring of juice on the mesh and waited until it absorbed. And I drop some juice onto the cotton inside the coil itself. Then I prime it like everyone else does. After all this I let it sit for about 90 minutes while eating supper. Picked it up and took one more prime hit. Then I turned my mod down to 15W and took a small hit (usually working up to 25-30W).

The very first hit last night tasted AWFUL! It wasn't a burnt coil or burnt cotton or burnt juice hit. It was more of a melting plastic or burning paper taste. I took at few more puffs and nothing changed. Each hit created plenty of vapor but tasted gawd awful!

Took the tank apart, inspected the coil and it looked good. No burnt coil or black cotton and was very saturated with juice (not flooded). I put it back in the tank and tried again. AWFUL! So I got another coil, repeated the process AND NOTHING CHANGED!

Subox Mini (I usually vape around 25-30w)
70/30 juice

I had absolutely no problem with the first coil (should have just left it in) but these other two have been hell. I have one more coil on hand. Anyone have any ideas????

Sorry, I don't have a good answer for you.

The Atlantis coils do have a fairly good sized 'throat' where you can look down and somewhat see the coil and cotton wick. Hopefully you did not toss your 1st coil as unless the cotton is burnt, they can often times be soaked in alcohol, hot water or even sometimes I've used denture tablets (with lots of rinsing afterwards) to clean old juice 'gunk' off them so they are reusable for a while longer.

Saving your old atomizer/coils have an additional benefit - they are fairly easy to rebuild if you are ever interested in doing that. (lots of youtube videos available on techniques)

I have 5 Aspire tanks, four of which are Atlantis IIs, one Triton, and I chain vape all day long. This has happened to me and I think that I have figured out what is happening.

If you are starting a new Atlantis II tank, OR you have let the tank sit for any length of time, I think what is happening is the liquid is being pulled back in to the tank away from the coil cotton...leaving it exposed to burn. This is just a hunch but, I'll bet this is the issue.

To solve this, simply unscrew the tank from the vaping device (box mod, etc.), hold it in your hand with the airflow on medium or full opens setting, and inhale hard four or five times until you can almost taste the flavor you are vaping. Then screw it back on the electronic device, start at a modest wattage, and vape away...increasing the wattage to whatever you develop the fullest flavor hit at.
