Hey ya'll. I am not new to this yet. I have never even tried it before! Well I take that back, I have tried the demo at the "Smoking Everywhere" kiosk in our mall twice.

Background:

I love smoking. I am ashamed that I love it so much, but I do. I hate that it is bad for you, but I love nothing more than to get home from school (I am a teacher), make myself a pot of coffee, chain smoke, read, and diffuse. It's pathetic really, but every time I quit I become very anxious and depressed. My girlfriend is very supportive of me, but she cannot figure out how I can go all day at school (8 or more hours) without smoking and not seem to quit. It's hard for me to explain. I guess I can go that long because I KNOW I have my smoke break to look forward to every afternoon. I smoke other times when I am not at home and in the summer. In the car, after dinner, in the morning, etc., but my after school smoke is my FAVORITE.

So here is my dilemma....................we are planning on having a baby in a few months, and I know that I need to quit. If I am truthful with myself, I keep putting off having a baby because I don't want to quit. I feel selfish and foolish, but it is the truth, and I feel that I must admit it before I can move forward. I just know that my stupid smoking habit should NOT be in control of me this way. It should not be able to dictate whether or not I start a family.

So she and I decided that maybe I should buy an electronic cigarette. My plan is that I will start substituting the e cigarette for my regular ones gradually. Maybe I will smoke my e cigarette in the car and after school. I want one with nicotine because I am still smoking regular cigarettes. I am not sure I should smoke this if I do get pregnant, but I am thinking that if I can use this while I am trying it will make stopping easier. This is crazy too, but I know that being a new parent is stressful, and I like the idea of having the e cigarette handy so that I can use it after the baby is born.
I am so new to this that I don't even know what to look for or where to look for it. I have read some stuff on models and all that jazz, but I just want someone to help me dissect this information. I would like to know the name of a reputable company, etc. to try.

I am concerned with taste and feel.............maybe throat hit? Not sure if that's what I mean, but the way the smoke of a real cigarette feels on your lungs and when you puff it. I smoke Marlboro Menthol Light (now they are called gold) 100's. I LOVE menthol. I need something that is similar to these in order to be satisfied I believe. What should I try? I need more than a model number. I don't even know which websites or brands because there are SO many!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also smoke about a pack a day so how many cartridges and things should I order upfront. I just don't want to run out, and I know they sell juice or something, but I have NO idea about how to do that except that the girl at the mall showed me to use a paper clip. I am kind of afraid of nicotine overdose, and I don't want to do something wrong to cause that.

I have tried to navigate through these abbreviations and new information that are on this forum, but I still feel lost. Can someone help me? I would be very grateful!

Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can someone help me find an electronic cigarette to suite my needs?

OK I went to this Vapor4Life site, and I searched for 808, and it seemed to be just a battery. I want everything you need to start up. Can you tell I am so confused. I feel like Julie Andrews, "Let's start at the very beginning. It's a very good place to start!" hahaha. I do appreciate your advice on Vapor4Life and the 808 though. I just don't know which of the starter packs has that particular model in there. I just keep seeing "minis" and "shorts" and "case chargers?"

I also want something that is easy to smoke. That Smoking Everywhere thing that I tried was hard, and I have TMJ. The two don't mix. :) The girl kept telling me I was doing it wrong. I thought, "How do you suck on a cigarette incorrectly?" Evidently I was because it never produced much more of a sensation for me than sucking on a straw. I didn't buy it obviously because I wanted to do some research. I never trust those little kiosks very often because they seem to be reading from a script. :)

The LEAST expensive kit should do you fine for starters, For a basic no-frills kit, I would go here KR808D-1 Starter Kit

Then pick some cartomizers for it. Here KR808D-1 Cartomizers

Then you screw the little cylinder things on the big cylinder thing, and suck on it! VOILA, you are vaping. It is the easiest way.

The cartos can be refilled (cheaper) or you can just buy them prefilled, and throw them away (easier)

KR808D-1 is the model number for ALL of these types of e-cigs.

The ECF Library - E-Cigarette Forum Go there - read everything - it helps enormously to just hit research and try and absorb as much info as possible before making ANY buying decisions.
The 808 series aka KR8, and a hundred other names (yes, it can be confusing), a 2 piece unit, is a decent bit of kit and popular.
The Joye510 eGo (aka 'eGo', 'Riva' or Hello016'), which is a 3 piece, is also very popular. Id personally recommend an eGo as I have one as well as the regular Joye510 which has very short battery life (and sounds like it wouldn't suit you due to that).
Both PV are good, both have their pros and cons, and all can be bought online at varying prices. I get my eGo at Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. as well as my other Joye products btw.

Don't buy a thing though until you have read up on the Library about all the variations - then come back and ask more.

Oh - nic OD - a real OD on nic is rare - nic is pretty self-limiting, the same way caffeine is. If you have too much you will get symptoms like headache or upset tummy - most people will stop if they feel like that (duh, lol) and the symptoms pass off very quickly. Your system won't store nicotine the same way it wont store caffiene for very long.
Most new vapers start around 24mg nic, although I personally dropped to 12mg eventually (ultralights smoker), but 24mg can be diluted if needed. If you start too low you wont get any TH or 'feeling of smoking' and that can put people off.
I hope that was some help - and best of luck!

I was smoking Marlboro Menthols (about a pack a day) and this was my starting point:

- 510 kit from Cignot (Joye 510 with PCC)
- 10 Pre-filled carts of Menthol, High (18 mg) (as an easy way to get started)
- 10ml bottle of menthol, High

Been doing just fine ever since. I stated with a few packs of pre-filled carts just so I could get used to the whole e-cig thing before I started meesing with filling my own. Between the pre-filled and the bottle for re-fills, it gave me enough time to look around for liquids elsewhere.

Wow! You guys are great! Thank you so much. I know I probably included a bunch of overwhelming information, but this is overwhelming! hahahaha I am excited to try it though because it seems like a great alternative for those of us who can't seem to fathom quitting cold turkey. No, I take that back................I did cold turkey.......................several times....................obviously it wasn't my thing because I ended up starting back. Grrrrrr. :)

I love your honesty and can totally identify with all that you said. I am a teacher also. I've been vaping for over a year and a half, but I still have a few cigs when I want them. After trying nearly everything out there, I agree with those who suggest the VaporKing at Vapor4Life-Because it's your life - E-Cigarettes/Smoking Alternatives You will probably like the Vapor4Life- Electronic Cigarette: Vapor King Ultimate Auto Starter Kit to start with. You can add things after testing it. Buy lots of cartomizers. I have been a menthol smoker for decades, but I don't like menthol vaping. I do love the coffee flavors though.

Relax! As you read on here more, there are sooooo many stories just like yours! I think most of us have written similar posts. I smoked cigs just like you do. go hours and hours at work without, come home and smoked like a chimney. My best friend got me interested in e-cigs. I'd never heard about them before. She went so far as to buy my first kit! it was a joy 510 from cignot. Before I started vaping, I had no idea at ALL how fast I would give up the 'it's gotta be just like I smoked or I won't like it' idea. This is worlds and worlds better. I only use Ms T's Bakery juice. Things like peach, blueberry, cookies, pies, nuts.... every wonderful flavor you love can be had in vapor form. I always smoked menthols because they tasted better. after vaping raspberry bavarian creme--- smoking menthol seemed like licking the bottom of an ashtray. ick. I mean super-ick.
Vaping is freedom, you won't believe how much. I am so excited for you. It IS confusing at first. But that only lasts a Very short time once you get your kit in hand. Then all the things you're hearing about will make sense. and if not... here we are- the most helpful people on earth, wanting you to Live Free! Welcome to the club!!

Congratulations! This is a happy time when you plan on having a baby...don't worry so much! And don't feel ashamed or silly or foolish about cig addiction and the control it has over you...at least not here on ECF. We've all been where you are, trust us. I wish, wish, wish e-cigs had been around when I was pregnant with my son...so think of yourself as lucky and go for it!

A KR808 is what I started with and still use now, along with a bigger battery version (Elegant Easy-750 mAh); it worked and is working for me and thousands of others and best, it is easy with only two parts....sounds like what you want and need.

Buy several packs of extra prefilled cartomizers to start and at least one package of blanks to fill yourself and a small bottle of liquid. It's not hard at all to fill them and gives you much more flexibility, besides saving money once you find flavors you like.

I smoked for 38 years and thought I'd die with a cigarette in my hand. I did not want to quit (even though I kept trying and failing) and it was inconceivable to me that anything could ever replace smoking, but it did. Amazing.

Best of all, you will still be able to come home from school, make a pot of coffee, read and diffuse; you'll just be chain vaping and not smoking while you're doing it...and it'll feel great. Best of luck to you!

AND it tastes & smells better. I told my husband that I feel kind of like a walking air-freshener lately.

I echo the recommendation to check out the Library section. When you do choose, be sure to try a lot of flavors. Some that I was convinced I would really like, I didn't. And some that I thought that I would not like, I did. For me a decisive factor was the throat hit...the sensation that I had just inhaled something...and so for me menthols, mints, and strong cinnamon flavors have worked better than almost anything else. But everyone is different. So do try a lot of different flavors. Also, try more than one strength. I was sure at first that for me 18mg would suffice. It's ok, but I find myself much more satisfied with 24mg. Everyone's experience is a little different.

But trying a lot of flavors increases your chances for what will really help you to curb any cravings for tobacco cigs.

Taste is subjective, so everyone remember that as I make this suggestion. The V4L is an excellent choice for a beginner, it is as easy as can be with only 2 parts. That being said, I recently tried there pre-filled cartridges and I am afraid I have to agree with several other reviews. There is a definite undertone of flowers or perfume to their flavors ( my opinion of course ), some have suggested that this is common with "Dakang" flavors. I'm pretty sure that is what V4L uses. So my suggestion would be to order a starter kit, and by all means try a few of the flavors on the pre-filled cartridges, but also get some blank cartridges ( I recommend the "cool cartos", less likely to burn for a new user)and some juices from a different vendor.
tasty vapor & DIY flavorshak are 2 suggestions

Just remember to give it a fair chance, your taste buds will quickly begin to awaken and you will discover a whole new world of flavors to enjoy vaping.:)

Well ya'll, I just spent 163 bucks at Vapor4Life so I hope the stuff is good. I got the Ultimate Manual Kit for 89 and a bunch of 4 cartridge things (2 Smilin Menthol and 2 Peppermint Ice Cream). I also got 3 packs of blank cartridge things and 2 bottles of the juice that I mentioned before. I am not sure how long this stuff is supposed to last, but I figured if I ordered a lot then I would at least save on shipping and handling. So did I do ok? I know there are a lot of cheaper ways and sites out there, but with this being my first order, I figured that I would buy something from another site that didn't fit my battery. I am really excited. I just hope I didn't spend too much in one pop. I got a little over zealous I think! Thanks for all your support. To the person that suggested the 6 part library series, it was very informative, and I read the entire thing before I placed an order! Thanks for taking the time to point it out! :)

And I also asked my doctor about this today, and he said that this would definitely be better than continuing to smoke when I am trying to get pregnant. I just hope I can wean myself off successfully. I haven't been so lucky in the past. Sometimes I could just scream at myself for ever taking that first puff when I was 19. I fell in love from the beginning, and that was the problem. If I had had a bad experience, I probably wouldn't have kept experimenting and eventually gotten hooked. But no need in rehashing past mistakes..........I did start, and now I need to figure out a way to quit. Wish me luck! And I wish the same to all of you out there who are struggling like me! :) No one understands like a smoker!

Good luck on it all!! I picked this up about six months ago, on a whim, I had no real desire to quit, because I LOVE my 'me' time. It wasn't just the smoking, it was getting out on the porch, away from everyone, putting my feet up, and relaxing.
Almost immediately, I went from almost 2 packs a day to five or six cigs. Today, I'm down to 2. (I think I am one of the ones that craves some of the other additives in cigarettes, so I use snuff too. You can read about alternatives much later). It's not as hard to give up as you may think! I may not have completely bit the bullet, but I'm way ahead of the game... and *I* didn't have motivation.

Just relax, don't worry about "if you bought the right one" or "how much you spent on the first purchase" (lol... just wait!) or "if you can do it" ... it's a fun ride, enjoy it :) and just think of how much healthier you'll be for that baby :)
