Hiya,
I'm Craig I am a Mechanical Engineer and am very tech savy. I have been building mods for about 6 months and I have had a lot of success. Its simply about time that i post a lot of stupid responses in the new members forums so i get reply to post privileges. lol. So here is the first. I'll try to make them interesting sooo still read up.

Post 2! how many do i need again? gah i'll have to look that up before i get too carried away. Anyways, I started as any newbie with modding. I first knew i loved the 510 atty's and thats where i've stayed. i have tried others to compare. including recently i tried C2 Clearomizers. Very cool design idea! i like them alot, but they have their flaws, they are a little higher maintinence to use, mainly in that because the clear tube is actually an acrylic plastic, it is very willing to pop of the press fitted 510 connection... Thats very frustrating when that happens. liquid goes everywhere. as soon as i got my first clearomiser i realized the potential. The second cartridge i used i went with the idea. before ever filling it, i took it all apart and crammed a 3 mm LED and resistor inside! It was tight, but i made it work. It was super bright, blue. It actually got annoying. lol. Since then i used it for a couple days and then it popped apart like the others and that broke the connections. sooo trashed it. but hey, when they are less than 2 bucks a piece it was worth it. proof of concept.

So, since i knew i liked 510 atty's that part is done, the next most important thing is battery life. i made several advancements in this right away. By buying Lithium batts. from Dealextreme dot com. i purchased the biggest single cell battery i could the 18650, got two. upon recieving them i realized i was going to have to physically build my first box to be able to custom fit that monster battery. i made it out of 1/4" acrylic plexiglas. (1/4" is too big) finished with building it. used a light up momentary switch from madvapes dot com (favorite website for parts). also slow color changing 5 mm LED inside. and that box was cool. but big and clunky, not clean/professional enough.

So I realized it was time to switch to a smaller battery, which still has decient battery life. a step backwords i suppose. I moved to the standard 14500's and made box mods out of 2 AA boxes. they were pretty cool. i was quite satisfied with them for awhile. I even made a clear box, put i mini micro switch in the side, because they can handle the current unlike other switches. the cool thing about micro switches is there are three connections to play around with. with some clever wiring i put a green ON light. and when the button was pushed, it turned OFF that LED and turned ON and Indicator light, orange. That box i love. still got it.

So the next very important advancement in my modding was realizing that the size of the single cell battery doesnt matter much! As every e-cig user, i loved the high performance of the product the most only when it was fully charged. So you find, that even if you have a huge battery capacity, you still are charging it all the time so you get that fantastic performance.

So time to step it up a notch, I moved to 5 volt boxes. Using 14500 batteries and a simple 5 volt regulator, up to 5 amps current from Madvapes. two huge advantages, 1 you are at a constant 5 volts which is better than a fully charged single cell at 4.2... 2 the most important, you receive exactly the same performance of vaping even when your batteries are near dead! In fact, you have no idea what charge level the batteries are until they literally shut themselfs off from the auto protection circuit! this is fantastic, and it gives you amazing battery life back. no more charging all the time to get consistent great performance.

So to perfect that design and clarify, It is a 3 AA battery box with master switch. 2 14500 batteries in series. 5 volt regulator, and on most boxes i have fallen in love with the simple horn switch from madvapes..and other cheaper yet places on the internet. i mount that horn switch very cleverly on the Side of the box. this is a little complicated because of the door/plate to close the box. the lid has to have half the hole of the large horn switch you see. So through some clever drill press time and some experience i have made it work. the back plate/lid still perfectly slips and notches into place easily. .. but then you find, even though your battery life is pretty fantastic you still are lazy and dont want to pop those batteries out to charge them. so i added an JST connector to all my boxes, female. and happen to have the recorces for relativly cheap 2 cell lithium battery chargers, 1 amp current charges to 8.4 volts. perfect. i solder the male JST connector there and now i dont have open my boxes almost ever. i have even kept the screw hole on the boxes in working condition so i could screw the lid on. but the lid fits so nice i havent bothered to do that.

haha mega juice machine fridge? i dont know why you would do that. truth is dripping is not that big of a deal. if you hate doing try cartomizers. i dislike them because they have always turned out to give a burnt taste to me, and the draw is too hard, and you cant change flavors easily. i just dont like them. However technically the C2 Clearomizer is classified as a cartomizer and i like those. it is true the cold juice from a fridge tends to have slightly better throat hit and taste better. (just kicking your fridge idea around) and nicotine liquids last better if refrigerated.

I have been kicking around some ideas of making a large unit that essintially will replace hookah. i truely believe that sooner or later people will come to there sense and realize hookah is not healthy. The tar is still in the vapor even after bubleing through the water. it really doesnt filter anything out. just cools the air. espcially if you have ice in there.

electric ciggarette technology will replace hookah. I just havent figured out which way to design it to make it happen. like would each person still have a seperate atomizer? and share a large battery? ..nah that would be stupid. its not a group thing, your not sharing the flavor/experience.

So the hookah replacement would have to use a massive battery, probably id start with a simple 12 volt car battery, and eventually a very large atomizer would need to be custom made for it. this hookah atomizer ideal would handle the 12-14 volts. via having the right size and resistance of nichrome wire. it would be seriously drinking liquid, so it would have to have either a drip mechanizm (possible) or a clever working cartridge/filler material. So you pass around a single tube from the hookah, the tube would have mounted a switch to turn on the atty. Potentialy other tubes could be added for multiple people drawing, provided there is a one way air valve in each, and each has to have a switch to activate the atty, that wiring might be a little technical but i think i could work something out.
