I now have more privileges and will probably discontinue this story of my evolution in modding. How ever I'll throw out a teaser, I am currently designing and about to build a new box. Literally i will be building the box, this time from Lexan aka polycarbonate (1/8") because it's properties are better than acrylic. I need to build the box to accommodate the strange battery and to minimize the size. I am using two 2650 mah FLAT cell lithium batteries. Making another 5 volt. it will feature a charging port as before and a slow and a fast color changing LED to make the clear box look sweet. however, i will have a slide switch dedicated to turning those on and off as i enjoy
vaping discretely in movie theaters and what not...but like it to stand out at parties too. The other really cool feature is built in i will have a small digital voltage reader, with the press of a small tactile switch, it will power up and display the voltage of each cell individually and then the total voltage. perhaps i will wire in the 5 volt source as well so when hitting it i can see if the 5 volts is sustained easily. also the standard 510 atty will be recessed about a half inch but sealed out of the internal components. the cool part about that is if and when i over drip, the leaking juice will pool up on the recessed hole around the atty, and will be sucked back into the atty when i draw from it again. i am very excited about that feature working out.
upon catching up on my reading through out these forums i will probably in the near future, be trying to make a 5 volt box that runs from a single cell lithium using a high current output booting voltage regulator. seems that would be hard on batteries.. it will probably require using an un-protected battery, because drawing 2+ amps will probably trigger the protection circuit to turn it off.
P.S. i disagree about using Pass throughs. I feel they have potential if your lazy and never want to charge a battery, but they are becoming unnecessary because of our large battery advancements and potential to regulate the voltage, therefor giving consistent performance. But you aren't tethered. Its a matter of preference i suppose. I know i for one have too many wires and cables in my life and dont want to be tethered ever to enjoy vaping.
I have attached one photo of one of my favorite boxes (others ECF didnt want to upload, p.s. taken from my sweet 8 megapixel droid x). i forgot to mention in my final product design that i am now beginning to sell to friends and family, that i have added a 3mm blue indicator light, right in front of the horn switch. it is useful in trouble shooting for noobs. Its easy to cover up with your finger too so pros can still vape discretely .
