I need something other than the Joye eGo and DeKang e-juice.

On a side note, I feel like most of the juices I used to get a lot of flavor/feeling out of I'm just not anymore - like RY4, Strawberry, tobacco... they don't seem to DO anything to me anymore, just menthol, that's why I seem to use it so often.... I'd like to fix this situation, but I'm not sure if I'm just vaping too much, and that's why juice doesn't seem to have much of an effect on me anymore, or whether it's just that my body and tongue are just too used to the same things over and over.

First there is nothing unusual about losing your taste for a juice or any juice when it comes to vaping. There are days when everything tastes like crap to me. The best thing you can do is alternate with different flavors of juice. If you vape one juice you taste buds get used to it and it gets to where you can no longer taste the flavor.
A different battery isn't going to change that. As you said the best thing to do in your case is to try different juices and alternate during the day even if it isn't you favorite taste.
Lower ohm atomizers may give you a more flavor or it may be too much. Do not go below 2.0 ohms with an ego. An ego just doesn't have the power to handle lower ohm atomizers safely. You have to experiment and find what works for you.

I would also suggest getting a multimeter to check the ohms of your atomizers and cartridges. What they send you isn't always what it is supposed to be. You can also use it to check your battery to see if it is putting out the voltage it is supposed to when charged. On an Ego that should be at least 3.7 volts and closer to 4.2 but never over 4.2. Even though it sends 3.4 volts to the atomizer. Batteries get old and need to be replaced.

@lordterrin, I also vape DeKang Menthol exclusively and for almost a year now. I use the 24mg though. I have also tried and have about 12-15 other, (what was recommended by others to be an excellent menthol), just collecting dust on a shelf. Please keep in mind that what others see a a good flavor or taste might be way off from what you see. I have found that the DeKang can sometimes say in the morning have a pretty good bite to it and is sometimes overwhelming. What I have found to work best for me, (and keep in mind, for me), I mix down the 24mg with a straight VG to a 50/50 mix and brings it doen to about 18mg. I still get a bite from the juice and the VG more that doubles the vapor production. I also use an eGo battery at times along with a 3.7v AA Box Mod from SmokTech. I have also changed to using LR306 and LR510 atty's as well. I use the 1.5ohm as this seems to give me a much warmer vape. I also noticed the juice flavor jumped off the charts for me. Being a menthol 2 PAD guy for almost 40 yrs I am very partial to vaping a menthol and nothing else. I have tried other flavors, but they are collecting dust with the other menthols that didn't satisfied me. I hope you can take something from my experience as well as others to bring back the enjoyment of vaping. Sometimes I am so greatful for having this forum to fall back onto for suggestions to my vaping habit..... Happy vaping.....

Yeah, I have 2 eGo batteries that I use them on. Been using them for nearing 10 months now. I get around 7-8 hrs use out of each battery per charge also. I know I always read on vendor sites that the 1.5ohm atty's are eGo killers, but mine are still going. I do take care of my equipment as I use it also, so that might play a part in it.

My concern isn't about killing an inexpensive battery. When you push a lithium battery beyond it's ability it breaks down the battery internally. Making it more likely to have catastrophic failure. Most likely a fire. This could and has happened when vaping, in peoples pockets or while charging. It may never happen to you or you might have it on the charger tomorrow and burn your house down.

When I look at something like this, Mods , my first thought is "holy crap that looks complicated." I vape because it's simple. I want to screw on my atomiser, and use it for four weeks without having to think about what I'm doing. I fill it up when it needs it, and I throw the atomiser away when it stops procuding good quality vapor. The only thing I feel I'm lacking is taste. I want more taste out of my juices.

I think the main reason I asked my question was because I wasn't sure whether or not my lack of flavor was coming from the juice, or from the e-cig itself. I like the fact that my ego is portable, it easily lasts all day, and I don't mind dripping juice into the carts. I've tried low-voltage atomisers (I think that's what they're called,) and I find they burn juice REALLY quickly and always taste really harsh on my throat, so I went back to normal 510 atomisers.

What makes variable voltage (thanks for the definition btw) a good thing to you? If I could get a battery that I could use with my current 510 atomisers and carts, that would allow me to tweak that voltage for a better vaping experience, then leave it there, I would probably do that - as I mostly smoke only one juice, and I tend to only use one type of atomiser and cartridge.

I also use the ego and a menthol liquid, for about the same length of time you have. I like it, as I am not really into flavors. I use the Joye menthol, 18 mg's. So far, it hasn't lost it's "punch" for me.

I have started with Ego-C and Dekang and Joyetech liquids. I can recommend to try a Buzz-Pro, the safest mod on the market in my opinion and Virgin Vapor's e-liquids. This is a totally different class, there is no turning back to an Ego for me. Yes, these vendors are more expensive but you get what you pay for. Both vendors shipped to Romania so I cannot see any reason for them not to ship to Australia. If you buy a mod with stacked batteries get a good charger, LiMn batteries and learn a bit how to use them.

I've been vaping for a good two years, maybe longer. I vape a lot - all day at work, in the car - I am hooked into my vape most of the day. As someone living in Australia, for QUITE some time now I have been purchasing joye eGos and the dekang style of Menthol ejuice, as this is mostly what is available to me. I've tried a multitude of flavors, and several different types of e-cigarettes, and I am generally happy with the way things are going.

As I've been doing this (eGo + menthol) for over a year now, seven days a week, my main concern is that I MAY be missing out on awesome new things that have developed in the "e-cig" world that I'm not aware of due to my complacency with my current setup.

I look at all these vendors in the US and think, "Wow, there sure are a lot of e-juice makers." They are definitely more expensive than the Chinese, but I'm wondering... would anyone like to recommend to me:

  • a different style of e-cig that might produce a better, more flavorful vapor than the eGo?
  • a different Menthol?
I'm cool, I guess, keeping my eGo, as a have a lot of spare atomisers and batteries and overall it's a great e-cig that I never have to charge more than once a day, but what I really want is a more flavorful juice... I think my tastebuds are just becoming numb to what I've been smoking, and I'm not getting as much of a kick like I used to. (I smoke 18mg pretty much standard.) I smoke menthol about 90% of the time, as I have historically liked the kick it gives me in my throat. Since I'm in Australia, the only stores I've found that will ship inexpensively to Aus are in China, and they only stock one kind of juice. I want to buy some stuff from America, I don't mind the shipping costs, and I'm willing to try any number of different menthols, as long as they come highly recommended.

On a side note, I feel like most of the juices I used to get a lot of flavor/feeling out of I'm just not anymore - like RY4, Strawberry, Tobacco... they don't seem to DO anything to me anymore, just menthol, that's why I seem to use it so often.... Anyone willing to help a fellow vaper out?

Also, I gotta tell ya when I first started, I felt the same way as you. After a few months I felt like i just couldn't taste any juices anymore and I was getting little satisfaction out of vaping, I even almost quit there in the beginning as I couldn't seem to get the "taste" or throat hit as I did before. That's when someone told me to nix the atomizers. I did, and have used cartos ever since and never lose that taste anymore. You might want to just toss the atomizer/cartridge method. No matter how much I topped them off, after those first couple of months I just never could get back the right taste or feel from it.

I use pre-filled carts, and refill them quite a few times before they are done. They deliver a high quality taste and great throat hits.

I do enjoy cartomizers, but they're expensive for what you get. I love popping a 24mg carto onto my battery, leaving my juice at home for the day, and being fine. I use them when I go out or when it's cumbersome to carry a bottle of juice around with me - but I can't justify the cost of using them every day.

I may go all scientific method on this and just try ordering a few bottles from some US vendors and seeing the difference in taste with two new atomisers, one with the dekang juice and one with a separate menthol, before I take the plunge into buying different atomisers and batteries. After all, it is the juice that I am inhaling. :)

Thanks everyone for your input into this thread, it was a great help and I have lots of ideas to check out over the upcoming months.

An EGO and Menthol Joose has been my main vaping pair for almost two years now, and I have tried a LOT Of other jooses, none of them stick. I just don't care for them, and the ego batt has served me well. So far I haven't decided to switch it up even though I know there are a lot of other set ups out there. So at least I know what i am "not" missing. LOL If you feel you are missing out tho, I suggest buying a lot of trial size bottles of e-juice and just see what you like. As for a PV, there are way too many out there for me to even make a solid suggestion. There is the kgo, lavatube, provari, zenesis, reo....I just keep it simple with my ego standard and ego-t batts and stardust clearos.
