Ended up just taking the old coil out and rolling the mesh small enough to just slide into the coils in a new head.. so i basically just slid the silica wick out.. and slid a ss mesh wick in its place.. no rolling required..

Steps to do it:

1. Take the bottom off the vivi-nova and slide out the 510 connection post and bottom.

2. Get a new head and using your fingernails just pull the pin out of the bottom.. You will notice one part of the coil is outside the
plastic rubber sleeve (the ground id assume) and the other part of the coil is on the inside of the sleeve (Positive, this part of the coil actually is pressed up against the bottom pin completing the circuit.

3. Remove the grey rubber sleeve.

4. lift the coil out gently grasping the wicks gently

5 slide the silica wick out of the coils (there is next to zero resistance they will slide out pretty easily.

6. Roll a VERY VERY VERY thin stainless steel mesh and oxodize it. (there are TONS of videos to learn how to do this
on youtube)

7 Slide the new mesh wick in between the factory rolled perfect coils.

8. This is optional but it helped me... unroll one wrap from each end to give you some extra to feed out the bottom. Doing
this did drop the ohms on the coil from the factory 2.6 down to 2.1 but no biggie for me..

9 Feed the left and right wires down the middle of the head.

10. Re-insert the rubber sleeve leaving one of the wires on the outside and one of the wires on the inside of the sleeve

11 push the metal center Pin back in place, and trim the wire as needed to neaten it up

12. Test fit the length of the mesh wick and trim as necessary

13 Check your ohms.. and vape away.

Flavor for me was FANTASTIC.. Just like my z-atty pro..

Be careful the first time I tried this the wick was a bit to wide and the wicking was cut off by the VERY small gap for the mesh to go through on the walls of the head.. Other then that.. was a VERY simple thing to do.
!!NO MORE BUYING VIVI HEADS FOR ME!!

I believe this is a bit easier process then a genesis because there is no need to wrap the positive and negative around a post and keep the wick straight and from touching the posts that are so close to them.. You just feed the excess wire down the center hold.. push the rubber sleeve back up the middle with one wire inside it and one wire outside it.. push the metal post in and trim.. If you can oxodize a wick and roll a coil its 10 cents to fix a head instead of 3$ to buy one.. Adding all of the advantages of using a SS mesh

the mesh isnt touching the the coil is setting above the rubber sleeve and below the silicone top cap so nothing is melting.. been vaping on it for an hour now and no problems yet..not to say there WONT be.. but as of yet.. there arent any as far as the wire.. I just inserted the stainless steel mesh in the EXISTING coil that was on a new head.. so im not sure what wiring combo resistance/noresistance they used on the heads.

What happens when the coil dies? Are you going to be able to make a new coil with this process?

I wouldn't see why not. I've recoiled all mine with cotton yarn and no NR wire and they work flawlessly. I have heard that twisting the ends of the legs to kind of double them over will also keep the little o ring from getting hot. Mine do have a slight brownish tint where the wires run down but I haven't experienced any bad flavor.

and no reason to use "New" wire.. the wire on the new head was new wire fresh out of the blister pack of heads.. I just noticed the silica wick slid out very easily so it was nothing to just roll a small SS Mesh wick oxodize it and slide it into the existing wire.. as i said i also unrolled one wrap from each side to give me some excess at the bottom to be able to trim it so i could really see the wire coming out the bottom .. and i was mistaken.. taking one wrap from each side of that coil dropped it from 2.4 ohms to 2.1 ohms.. either way not much difference.. vaping like a champ on my provari at 4.4v

you need to buy one head (or considering it comes with one).. then rebuild it when it breaks.. whats so hard to understand about that?

sorry for misunderstanding you. i assume you repair the coil portion when that fails as as well. i just didnt see instructions on how you do it. i have since found youtubes on how to replace the coil. not sure if you do it the same way, or if you just buy a new vivi head when the coil wears out, then replace the wick. wahtever you do, cheers and vape on.

@jcwest When you say very very thin wick, what dimensions did you cut the mesh at? Gonna experiment later this weekend with it.

Ninja edit: Was it hard to get the ss wick to bend like that?

I have my mesh and wire also. Would be interested in dimensions of ss you used.

Also ordering natural 100% bamboo yarn, and 100% cotton yarn. whichever I dont like the best, ill use for something else.

vivi nova tanks are the best ive found after spending hundreds trying carto junk, other tanks.

Be Sweet Bamboo Yarn in 600 Natural 100% Bamboo, handmade by Be Sweet --- bamboo link i found. any thoughts?
