i really taste the cotton

so i started rebuilding the heads for my protank 2 (with air flow adapter). im using organic cotton balls and letting the tanks sit for 10 to 30 min. they arent dry hitting or burning. its just a cotton taste, like if i were to suck on the cotton (though i do taste the juice too). my pv's are a vtr, 2 ego style, and a cool fire 1 (my vamo wont even fire them). unfortunately i was told to use 28ga kanthal on reddit (9-10 wraps around a toothpick)which is giving me around 1.2 ohms. could that be the reason?

i did order some 32ga kanthal, hopefully that will fix the problem...but maybe not.

Maybe your using too much cotton. Im using 30ga on a 1/16 drill bit, it hits good. Remember with cotton less is more.

that could be it. im not going crazy with the cotton but i could def seeing it being a bit too much.

even with organic? ive read that you dont need to boil organic cotton.

and its not a chemical taste or even bad...it just tastes like cotton. which even though i say its not bad...i dont want to taste it.

I used to read similar posts and went hunting for some cotton that would work without the need for boiling. Personally I had no success.

I gave up searching. Granted, I only tested 4 different brands. But they all had a very distinct cotton taste to me.

This is what I currently use:

Boiled it twice with some distilled water, 20 mins each time. Cotton taste went away.

well ive tried less cotton and i also boiled the cotton for over 20 min. still getting a cotton taste. i switched to 32ga kanthal wrapped 8 times around a toothpick (2.5 ohms). anything else it could be?

maybe somebody has a pic or link to how much cotton i should be using? cuz i really cant see how much i am using could be to much.

I don't boil my cotton and I know what you are talking about.

#1 don't use too much cotton, should be able to slide through your coil with little resistance, it will swell up when soaked with juice.
#2 you will get a cotton taste at first. I don't inhale the first 20-30 puffs. I use straight pg or vg for this. I find that by my second or third tank in the kayfun lite, it's practically gone. Also I start at lower voltage/wattage as I break the wick in. That's just been my experience. YMMV depending on your coil/power setup.
