I'm helping someone whos had cancer, and therefore safety is extremely important.

They are using a Vamo 2 with Protank II Pyrex tank. I want to get silica out of the equation, and therefore the best choice is cotton. I will make around 10-20 coils at a time.

As safety is an issue, id rather avoid super-heating the fluids for fear that the heat will do something to the ingredients that could potentially be dangerous. Therefore safety is more important than amount of vapour and taste.

What should I pick for the protank II rebuild with cotton?

1) Regular coil or micro coil?

2) 28 ga, 30ga or 32ga kanthal?

3) I'm thinking a > 2.0 ohm is desireable, as its a colder vape - correct?

4) will a 28ga 2.0 ohm micro coil be hotter than a 2.0 32ga regular coil, as the coils are all next to each other and heating each other up?

5) Lets say 5 wraps of 32 ga = 2.5 ohm, would it be OK to wrap those 5 wraps like a microcoil (up against each other) or do they need to be spaced out and not touching like the stock coils?

I am sure someone will come along that can help you more than me but I just do regular coils. 5 wraps with 32 gauge and I am getting a resistence of 1.8Ω. I have been pleased with this and put in in my ProTanks, mini's, evods and igo-L dripper. I wrap so that the coils are not touching. Good luck to you and your friend. I think he is pretty lucky to have a friend like you. :)

Don't know about the rest, but definitely 32, maybe 30. Not 28 in a PT.

Just guessing, but I'd imagine a 32 gauge regular wrap would be best - less heat than a micro, and fewer wraps to get the resistance you want with the 32. I know for a fact that the 30 gauge micro coils I build @2.0Ω would not fit comfortably in a PT

Also, I think that the 1.8-2.2Ω range is what you'd be after.
