I stopped smoking in 2004/05. I was a analog smoker for about 8 years prior to me quitting. I tried to quit analogs 3 time before being prescribed Chantix which I thought help me kick the habit. It did work but it took me years to find out that all I really did was change habits. Instead of smoking analogs, I picked up Pepsi (Now Diet Pepsi) and increased my food intake. Within a matter of a year, I went from a healthy weight to being obese. It didn't even dawn on me what was happening to my body. It didn't even dawn on me that I was eating way more than I had ever eaten in one meal. At one point, I would walk into McDonalds, order 2 big macs, a medium fry and a diet Pepsi not thinking just how bad that was. I was hungry, that's all that mattered. Then, I had to go in for surgery and the doctor told me I had to lose the weight. So, I started exercising and put myself on a diet. I went back down to a healthy weight but little did I know, I did damage to my back. Soon, it was too painful for me to walk. I had the surgery that I needed, but I couldn't continue to exercise because I couldn't take 20 steps without being in so much pain that I had to sit down. Soon, my weight went back up to 278Lbs.

Now, I need surgery on my back. Doctors tell me that I cannot have the surgery until I lose the weight. I went to physical therapy but the pain is so high that they told me that there is nothing they can do. I walk with a cane (most of the time on my bad days), I have to ride the motor cars inside the stores because walking is too painful, sometimes I fall down because my back gives out and will not support me standing or walking, turning over in bed is extremely painful, they want me on a high level addictive drugs that I refuse to take and, I have been diagnosed with Diabetes which I control through diet.

So, I took a look back on what caused all this. I soon realized that I really didn't kick the habit of letting go nicotine. I just simply replaced it with something else that led to where I'm at right now. After putting two and two together, I made the decision to go back on nicotine via vaping and cut out the caffeine via drinking only water except for drinking wine here and there and my vanilla chai tea from Dunkin Donuts. I immediately noticed the difference. I don't crave to eat as much now. When I do eat, I cannot eat the entire meal as I did before. This is exactly how I remember when I used to smoke analogs.

My only concern is that I do suffer from headaches now. I'm not sure if its because I'm really suffering from caffeine withdrawal or if its really the nicotine that is causing me to have headaches. I'm using ejuice with 3mg of nic. I vape almost every hour and I normally only puff 8-10 times over a 12-14 minute cycle. Its really difficult to say which is the cause because the day I started vaping is the day I stopped drinking caffeinated drinks as my only source of hydration. Please comment. Thanks for reading my long story and safe vaping.

Wow,,, complicated and exacerbating Situation you got going there. First, all the best and hope it all gets dialed-in and good ASAP.
Due to all the Factors, IMO it would be difficult and inaccurate to label the Root Cause on Nic. However, you could attempt to Vape a Zero Nic Juice for a few days or a week to confirm. Keep your 3 handy just in case the Urge gets overwhelming as a Safety. Then you would know for sure.

I'd say overall it's a troublesome Combination of all the Factors you mentioned coming together. Diet, Pain, Chemical Ramifications from a quite drastic Change in overall Lifestyle, etc. Also, Pain in your Back (I speak from experience) and other such Issues does indeed lead to nasty Headaches in and of itself.

Stay the Course on your Brave decisions and Commitments to a Change for the Better. Pain getting to where you want to be is an unfortunate but unavoidable Price that we all must pay on some level or another. Hopes & Prayers for your Journey to be lightened and your Victories lasting.

My first suggestion would be to talk it over with your doctor first. I cannot say for sure, but your doctor can do bloodwork, and it could be something totally unrelated to vaping, caffiene, or nicotine. First rule, always consult your doctor first.

The only thing I can do, is guess. Caffeine withdrawal symptoms are one possible solution. Caffeine withdrawal can stimulate headaches. Another thing is NIcotine intake, and withdrawal. Both can cause headaches as well. The only thing a doctor can do, is do some bloodwork to see if there is an imbalance in your blood. Beyond that, they will probably suggest quitting both nicotine, and caffeine. Personally, if you think nicotine will help curb your appetite, then it may cause a benefit in reducing your weight, which is a health risk on it's own from several perspectives.

I am going through the issue with my wife as well. Weight is a VERY tricky subject, especially when my wife is concerned. She is so self concious about it, that she won't even tell me her weight, or let me be with her when the doctor weighs her.. we don't own any scales in the house. I did manage to take a peek at what the doctor wrote down on the sticky note last time we went, so I do know, but I don't let her know I know. She is obese, and it does affect her health. It causes undue stress on her muscles, her heart, her cholesterol. It is a problem that feeds on itself.. the heavier you are, the harder it is to get better. She gets winded having to go up stairs, and is out of breath just going up one flight of stairs. It causes backaches, and makes it that much harder to diet.

If you feel that nicotine helps with weight, then I personally would think that it would be a better solution. As long as it's not used as a "crutch", if your weight does go down, then keep with it. Still diet and exercise. Try to figure out where your headaches are coming from. Consult your doctor first, and although they will rarely admit they don't know, they will suggest different things to try to get the headaches away. Their answer for weight problems will be dieting, their answer for the headaches will be cutting out nicotine, caffeine and doing some bloodwork.

All I can say, is to test yourself.. try cutting out the vaping and see if the headaches go away. Do your own tests to see where the headaches are coming from, and if it's a withdrawal, try weening yourself off of that addiction.

For your headaches it might be that you're having a reaction to a particular flavouring in your juice. Some people have reported headaches with a particular flavouring but it's always different flavourings with different people. My suggestion would be to try a completely different flavour of juice from a different manufacturer if you can and see if that solves the headache problems.

I'm no doctor (not a lot of us on here are, but we all play one on TV):

I'm gonna guess it's cutting the caffeine that's causing the headaches. A few years back I was pretty heavily addicted to caffeine. Talking like, 2 cups before lunch, 2 cups after lunch, a cup or two when I got home.. I love coffee! Cutting back on caffeine was easily one of the hardest things I've had to do. I got headaches, I felt nauseous, I was fatigued and depressed all the time. It's sort of an "underrated drug" in that a lot of people don't classify caffeine as a drug. Well, it is. Just as much as nicotine or alcohol or {Moderated}. Your body builds a tolerance, builds a craving, and in the end you have a hard habit to kick.

I still enjoy my caffeine, but waaaay less. A cup of coffee a day, maybe an energy drink on an odd day.. Basically, before I start rambling, I'll say the only way to know for sure that it isn't caused by vaping is to stop vaping for a day or two -- if you can manage to not pick up your alternative vices. If not, give it some time. It took a solid month before I wasn't dependent on caffeine to feel good during the day.

Thanks everyone for responding. I do believe that my headaches are a contribution of both caffeine withdrawal and the nic intake. I went from have very little nic levels to 3mg of nic in my ejuice. I have an aspire nautilus mini and I fill that up but cannot get through the entire tank within a day. I say that because I really don't know how much nic I'm taking in each day. I've only been vaping since June 26th. But, I will change out the flavor of the juice once I get more money. I spent my budget, even pawning my sound bar for my tv to purchase the istick and nautilus mini. My local vape shops have flavors and the one I have now, I love, but I'm worried that I could get the dreaded vaper's tongue.

Lol it's not as bad as people make it out to be (at least for me). It's usually quickly cured by spending a day vaping an alternative flavor.

If you vape the same thing all day every day for a couple weeks you'll definitely notice the flavor get a little muted, but it's not like you take a puff one day and you can never taste the flavor again.

Thanks. I was a heavy diet Pepsi drinker. I mean the kind that could easily drink a 20oz bottle in one day without a drop of water. At one point, I was going through 20oz and half in one day before I realized that I was drinking way too much soda. This started at the time I quite analogs. I did it without any realizing what I was doing and the doctors never ever said to me what was happening. I guess they were more focused on my stopping analogs that they didn't even pay attention that I stated a caffeine addition in replacement of a nicotine addition.

I've been off caffeine drinks now for 4 days now. I'll ride out the headaches for now.

@greenjas Agree 100%. Same here.
Also, if you are a User of Artificial Sweetner, dump the "Blue Stuff" (contains aspartame, dextrose and maltodextrin).
I had headache issues for a long time and took about 800mg of Pharmaceutical Ibuprofen daily. Then heard and tried cold-turkey off the "Blue". Noticeable difference in days. Now, much less if any Headache Issues.
I use Splenda and it's Generics sparingly now and not had a return of the Issue yet. Although, I have read that the Splenda (contains sucralose as opposed to aspartame) has the same Issues for some People. It does not affect me in the same Manner personally. I only use Splenda in Hot Tea and/or Coffee). Normally I stick with the Real Deal (Sugar) whenever needed and possible.
Something to consider.

Many years ago I had to limit my caffeine intake. It took about a week for the headaches to go away. And that was just cutting it back to only coffee in the morning. Give yourself at least a week of no caffeine. You're already 4 days in.

I call those the lack of caffeine headache. I was also a Pepsi drinker. I swear every picture of me also contained my bottle of Pepsi, either in my hand or on the table next to me.

I can now have my coffee in the morning......or not. It doesn't bother me or give me that horrible headache that would be there ALL DAY LONG. I still like my coffee in the morning, helps me to wake up, but I don't Need it first thing.

Good luck and let us know how it is going for you!

Adding: I no longer drink any soda. Just water.
