this is actually a big deal, and not a good one for us. the more vlogs I watch, articles/blogs/threads I read.. it's time to come together.

for an immediate action, as a community and individual concerned citizen, we are being asked to go to:

Regulations.gov

and submit a comment requesting an extension of the comment period:
"A 75 day comment period is insufficient time for the vaping industry and the wider vaping community to comment on the proposed deeming regulations. I would respectfully request that the period for comment be extended to 180 days."

and share, share share.

ETA: you do not need to enter any personal information, or any other info other than the comment. this is not *the* comment.

ETA: read this thread for more explanation:

I think once you comment you cannot comment again on the same regulation. Therefore, your request to lengthen the timeframe will be your one and only comment.

I'm looking into this, something the people requesting us to do this should know if it's the case.

I am waiting for CASAA- but too many regarded vaping folks have asked us to, so I did.

and if it true, then I feel I used my one and only in a great way.

I'm almost certain I read this on FDAs site that each person is allowed 1 comment. If a lot of Vapers are actually doing this they are wasting their comment which is actually doing more harm than good. This is why its best to not listen to others. Wait on CASAA and not act hastily. They've ask us to wait....

y name is Yvonne kay Perkins. I'm a 70 yr. old woman who smoked for about 50 years...till i found what I think is wrongly called e-cigs, as vaping has nothing at all to do with smoking cigarettes.

It is my firm belief that the FDA, the large pharmeceutical companies and the medical profession are only after the big money you know you'll get from taxing and so-called regulating the e-cig industry. These e-cigs are a thousand times safer and a thousand times better to finally get free from cigarettes than any of the junk the drug companies sell for quitting aids. I know, i tried them all.

All of you tell blatant lies about the e-cig industry as a low-down reason to tax and control it.

SHAME ON YOU

you may have to take turns with my one-call-a-day limit...and I won't know till I'm there what the visiting hours will be

no email required. it's absolutely your prerogative, just doing my part.

I understand you just want to help. But... This is where CASAA said acting now can do more harm than help. We all need to wait on CASAA and be a team. They will direct us on what actions to take that will be most effective. They ask us to not do anything until they issue a call to action. Ths was very important.

I heard that we are allowed more than one comment. Then I heard we are not.

It's best to wait out a few more weeks and let lawyers and the such digest it and give it to us regular folks in clear terms.

Wait for the grand plan, it is being organized and directions will come.

We definitely need to request an extension, but I'm pretty sure there is an official avenue to follow for that request. I swear I heard a lawyer on one of these podcasts describe exactly where to go to request that, and it for sure wasn't the regular "comments" avenue.

Let me figure out where that was, I'm kicking myself for not taking note to remember that important detail. If anyone can find it before me, please chime in.

Cheers

I received notice to make this comment from Clark at Nicoticket via Facebook, email newsletter and the NT vendor thread- this comment of Clark's explains the who, what, why and that this is not *the* comment CASAA is asking us to wait on:

First, thank you to everyone who went out and submitted requests for the extension of the comment period.

We are not limited to a single comment. I was instructed by multiple people at the SFATA conference, including several lawyers, that the best course of action was to request an extension to the comment period immediately. We were asked to disseminate this to our respective customer bases. The bottom line is, the home team needs time to gather evidence to support our testimony.

We were told to "withhold further commentary" for two primary reasons. First, the are still sorting through the intricacies of the Deeming Regulations. We need comments to be "well thought out, structured, and overall helpful" to the FDA (whom does not understand our industry). They are working diligently to provide a general guideline you can use to "tell your story." Secondly - they expect the ANTZ to go through and rebuttal the publicly viewable comments. Saving our content rich comments for the end of the comment period gives them less time to cherry pick through them and provide rebuttals.

The net net - there is nothing to lose by requesting an extension of the comment period - you can submit as many comments as you deem necessary. The industry heavy hitters at the SFATA Spring Conference ask that we comment requesting the period be extended to 180 days. We're probably get less than 180 days, but if they ask for 180, they'll get 120. :) Further commentary should be reserved until additional guidance is provided from leadership (SFATA, CASAA, etc)

If I got this information from anything other than the horses mouth, I would stay silent. ;) It makes sense.

solace......
Many thanks for forwarding Clark's post.....I was just about to do this....!:)
Requesting an "extension" will buy the vaping community TIME.....to respond to the "powers-that-be" in a factual, rational and intelligent manner.....and (hopefully!!) keep us from projecting an image of immature, hot-headed twits that would play right into "their" hands, and fuel more rhetoric.....
NOW is the time to PLAN our future actions!
The better our strategy.....the better our chances of emerging from the ensuing battle....
VICTORIOUS!!:D
Happy (vaping) Trails!

Solace, you made your comment in good faith and that's great :). I'm in Canada and I think I probably won't get to make one that will count for anything because of that, which really sucks!

I know CASAA has asked us to not comment until their lawyers have had a good look at the proposed regs and got back to us. I'm holding off until then to try. Don't know for sure if that's any better than doing it now but that's the way I decided to roll on this one.

Whatever happens, thanks for caring and doing your part.
