I would never soak for more than 30-60 minutes in the vodka.

Even 80 proof vodka has quite a high % of water in it.

Blow out from the connector end only.

You can then place some unflavored PG/VG, or some plain unflavored VG on it before you store it --- never store an atty dry.

I know that Metal taste you are talking about. You might try to revive it with some real hot water, or some plain unflavored juice, but I have found that once the metal corrodes like that from being oversoaked, they usually don't come back to normal again.

I have never dry burned an atty, and I have some that are over 6 months old and still working. I also don't do the vodka soak every time, I often just will put some plain unflavored VG+distilled water (mostly VG) on it, vape it a little, then put it away.

Unless you are vaping very highly flavored or NET stuff, your coil is not going to get really gunked up from just testing a few flavors.
