Blu is what got me into vaping. I enjoyed the flavors and the idea of vaping. But there are much better products out there. Not trying to knock blu but ithink the idea of the small battery disposable carto thing is to get people to spend way to much money. You may have to invest more for better equipment but it would e worth it. The blu batter would last me 30 minutes. My ego-c twist can last me two days. Not to mention some nice cartos in the mix with almost countless flavors over the net and ou will be enjoying vaping that much more. Blus are great to start out so dont feel bad. They introdced you to the idea and helped you change your lifestyle. Noting bad about that. Good luck to you friend!

From my personal experience I started with gas station disposables. They were costing me too much about $10 a day. I saw the eblu starter kit at a gas station and decided to get it. I don't remember exact price $35-$40 or 5 cartridges were $12 or so. I was using maybe 2-3 of those day so that was a little cheaper than the gas station disposables.

I did a bit of googling and found you could refill those cartridges 3-5 times with ejuice before they went bad. So that was even cheaper. But I like you was getting fed up having to unscrew and rescrew those every 20-40 puffs to recharge. I eventually got an ego-c starter kit. (I wish I would have gotten the ego-c twist to begin with...spend the extra 10 bucks so you can experiment with variable voltage). At any rate if you can find a flavor you like it's even cheaper than refilling those cartridges all the time and battery was lasting me 10-12 hours. I got a 1100 mah ego-c. The higher the mah the battery the longer they will go without recharging. They ususally come with 2 batteries so you can have one charging all the time and I've never ran out of power.

That being said I still do use my eblu from time to time. I like it public places as it's a little more discrete than one of those mid sized mods like the ego. I used to use it at work so that I didn't create a big cloud at my desk...I try and hide the fact that I vape at work as much as possible and only a few people know. At any rate I'm now using an ego like passthrough at work which is basically an ego battery that plugs into a usb port and you can vape while it is charging. Benefit of that is that I don't wear out my "portable" batteries and waste the recharge cycles on them.

I know have a vamo v3 coming in the mail ;) I mostly got that so that I could have a more professional variable voltage mod to experiment with. As stated before if you are going the ego-c route fork over an extra few bucks to get the ego-c twist so you have variable voltage to begin with.

Anyway that's been my vaping experience; and no you didn't waste your money on the eblu. As I said they will come in handy from time to time and worse case is if your more professional gear breaks down you have that as a backup.

"Are Blu's that bad?" Good heavens NO! It's not ever a bad thing when someone takes steps to stop burning analogs. Blu is a common entry-point device and you are personally observing/experiencing the reason that many people "move up" from cigalikes. You've obviously noticed the "less than optimal performance", the very short battery life, and you are seeing how the Blu "eco-system" encourages you to buy (and buy and buy) their pre-filled cartos. All of those are solid and common experiences and in no way "bad".

Refilling the Blu cartomizers is one way to try to save money (my wife had me refilling hers for months) and it familiarizes you with what a carto is, how it works, how they atomize, how they eventually die, and getting really good at dripping into teeny tiny cartos!

As others have (and will) recommend, a good "next step" would be to get an eGo battery or two. If you can get one of the many good "starter kits" out there, it will include heads that will allow you to use various liquids and your Blu cartos will fit and work on them as well (bigger battery, longer life, same carto).

If Blu is an "entry level" going with eGo's (and their attachments) is low/mid tier and a very comfortable place to enjoy vaping. Some folks settle in there and feel no need to go "gadget crazy" or spend more on hardware than that. There's lots of additional "steps up" and it is possible to "leap-frog" tiers.... all up to you.

What you will discover is that there are a LOT of well informed, very helpful, experienced and friendly folks here who are more than happy to share their personal experience, insight and advice. All of which will make you a better informed vaper and consumer. What "works best for you" is something that you will determine as you make those informed choices.

Roveer,

I was going to add my .02 since Blu's are were I started too. But these fine folks have got you covered perfectly so far and I just used Recon's example to replay with since I just do not think I could have said it better my self!!

Congratulations!!!
Be proud of what you have done so far. Any choice made to stay off analogs is the best one. Good luck and have a great day

A lot of people start with a Blu or something similar to it
Fortunately you have stumbled upon a forum filled with TONS of information on what direction to go
I started with something similar to Blu for myself it wasn't enough and was soon back to smoking cigarettes because it didn't "satisfy"
I eventually found a small Vape store in my area that sold Joyetech Ego batteries
When you are looking just take your time and don't freak out about what you're reading
With some time on this forum you will be able to understand all the gibber jabber

Joyetech electronic cigarette, Tank System, Changeable System, eMode, eGo-CC, eVic, eRoll, eGo-C, eGo-T, 510-T, e-Liquid

Here is there main site so you can just take a peek and ask any question about the devices on the forum

I started with the Blu disposable and then bought the starter kit at Walgreens. I noticed right away that the cartos very quickly developed an obvious nasty burnt taste. Did a bit of research and bought the Halo G6 starter kit. Much better product - better battery life and I don't get the burnt taste. Great Halo flavors as well. In my opinion the Halo product is superior in all ways. Blu is a great way to start but I'd be surprised if people stuck with it longer term given all the (better) options out there.

I am completely blown away by the huge number of responses I have received. Boy this is a popular forum. I don't think I've ever gotten this many responses to my posts. Really amazing. My thanks to those who contributed!

So, I'm digesting everything that has been suggested, but let me narrow things a bit. I've since found ways to refill my blu's so that's something I might mess around a bit. It seems that I probably shouldn't pursue the larger blu's to try and fix my battery dissatisfaction. so let me throw this out there...

From the small amount of research I have done so far I see a lot of those suggested cigs looking like pipes, hookas and who knows what. I'm thinking that those are not for me. Not in public at least. So I'm guessing I'd like to stay with something that looks close to a cig even if it is slightly bigger. Of course I'm saying that now, I'll probably get curious and end up with that stuff for at home. So I'm wondering what type of hardware folks use in public.

so I decided I was going to try e-cigs and went out and got a cheap blu starter pack. it's the 35 dollar one with the regular size case batteries and regular tobacco flavor. So far so good. Not quite a cigarette but I have gotten used to it. The whole idea is to stop "smoking".

All that being said, the batteries are pretty weak and I've read a whole lot about so many other alternatives.

I was wondering if their premium or premium 100 versions which have bigger batteries are better or if there really is a better product I should try? I really don't want to spend a fortune, but if I'm really missing out on something, I should consider it now before I spend anymore money.

I watched a few videos about how I can refill the blu carts so I might do that, but again, I want to learn about what might be better.

Thanks.

Roveer

Welcome and congratulations. I've never tried Blu, but it is a start for many people.

Blus kept my daughter and me from going back to analogs after being smoke-free for 7-8 years. When we got tired of getting Blu prefilled cartos that were DOA, or tasted stale, etc., we went with another cigalike that we found online, and are still using them a year later. We have found several juice vendors that we like, thanks to ECF, and have not been tempted to go back to analogs since we discovered ecigs. Eventually we would like to taper down from 18 mg. nicotine, and possibly look into different equipment. Right now, the cigalikes are doing the job we hoped, and we are quite happy and pleased.

I started out with a similar product and I honestly did not like it very much and I went back to smoking, dipping, and chewing. It was a stepping stone to get me interested in other alternatives. I went out to my local shop and picked up a Vision spinner, a tank and some juice 4 months ago and I haven't gone back to analogs. I can't say that I have completely gotten off the smokeless tobacco but I definitely haven't touched a cigarette since I started vaping and I use a whole lot less dip and chewing tobacco. Good luck on quitting and enjoy breathing!

I too started with Blu - unfortunately it only lasted a week before looking for something that I didn't have to change the battery so often. I noticed on the Blu website they got their e-juice from Johnson Creek Smoke Juice. I visited their webpage and immediately purchased the Vea with blank cartridges. After 9 months I'm still using the Vea (great technology in my opinion) along with a couple more advanced units - depends on what I'm doing and where I'm going. My Provari devices most of the time, but I still use the Vea a lot. I got into rebuildables, but those stay home and I use carto tanks or the Vea when I'm away from the house.

Congrats and stay analog free!
