i think i burned my 510 atty

so i recieved my 510 kit about a week ago and the first atty tastes fried. it tastes like burnt metal on a garbage heap. the only way to keep the taste off is by priming like every 3-4 drags (not very efficient) i have a janty mini fogger and those attys last so much longer. they dont create as much vapor as the 510, but ive tried everything to revive this son of gun. ive cleaned it, taken out the burnt fibers from under the mesh like i read somewhere, and nothing works. i have a second to replace it, but its my last, and i hope it doesnt go as fast as the first did.

Best advice I can give you is to order more right now!! I have learned to always have 2 attys on hand at all times (at least). I was without my 901 and stuck with snus for almost a week. Learned that the hard way.

Well... if you pulled the supplemental wick out of it.. for sure it is toast now.

Often, when 510 atties get a burned taste in them that won't go away.. it is due to polyfill getting on the coil and melting/burning there. It ends up being like a rock and it just won't go away easily.

If you can get the coil to do a dull-red dry burn, then usually that will turn most of the poly to ash and you can get the taste out. The trick is a good hot water rinse... dry.. dry-burn... red-coil.... warm water rinse.. and then another drying cycle.

well, i finally got PTB in my 510 so im not worried about polyfill on it now, but for a while thats all i had, maybe that happened. i guess we need to block the people that post saying to try removing the fibers under the mesh, ive only heard mixed results. what was wierd was ive had some 306 attys ship with it and some that dont, the ones that didnt came straight from janty, the ones that did came from vaporguys who are out of business.

Unless you plan to drip.. NEVER, and I repeat NEVER remove the supplemental wick from a 510.

Anybody who says otherwise is... well.... um...... poorly informed.

I agree with cyberwolfrob on the keeping extra attys around. I order mine 25 at a time to get the bulk discount. I don't ever want to be without a working atty, that just wouldn't be acceptable.
