So I was using 2.2ohm coils with my mini protank and it bit the dust. Went to my local shop and alas they were out of them. I purchased a 1.8 head and promptly removed the flavor wicks like I do. I started using it and got dry burnt hit after dry burnt hit. I replaced the wicks and haven't had a dry hit yet. Maybe luck maybe it's working as indended. Thoughts???

When I removed the flavor wick from stock heads they always flooded. Have you taken it apart again to see what the issue is?

You didn't say what type of device you were running the mini Protank on, but if you are using an Ego battery with 3.7 volts the 1.8 ohm coils are putting out more watts (heat) than the 2.2 ohm ones. Taking out the flavor wicks could have cut down on the delivery of the juice to the coil which was hotter, thus causing the dry hits. This would be especially true if the wire was wrapped too tight on the main wick inside the coil which would choke off the juice delivery. The flavor wick could have been bring more juice to the hotter coil.
