I purchased my first kit last week, it is an ego-k 650mah from a local smoke shop. At first I was curios about my purchase and searched through this forum to find any reviews on my kit but could not find any. This lead me to think I might have a fake. The kit came in a box which after some searching seems to look like a joye box but there are some things I am worried about. It looks like a regular ego battery the feel is the same and it does not have the gold ring alot of the fakes have but the led is blue, it does not have the circle joye logo on the bottom, the manual nor the box have any joye logos or mentions and no matter how hard I try to find it I can not seem to find the ego-k online. The only ego k I find are the laser engraved and mine isn't anything like that, mine is black and short and has that rubbery feel to it.

I had 8 egos before I upgraded. Of those 8, 6 met sad deaths and one was given away (it died 2 months later). All except my first one were genuine egos, the last remaining one is the only fake one and it's the only one alive and kicking.

agree with titanium ifs working dont stresss too much there is some confusion in the branding, the real joye have the logo on the bottom of the battery, there is ego,kgo,go go, vision and a host of others that make them.
the actual product name "EGO" refers to the outer threads on the battery, first marketed by joye then adapted into a model type not a brand type. and they can come in any color and coating imaginable, while it may not be a true joyetech product many of the copies work just as well if not even better.
EDIT: something to keep in mind, you will find that some products are 510 and then some (few but some) will say "ego threaded" meaning there is no 510 thread. i have clearo's like this, and you can also use them too. just a side note to remember as you search for accessories

It may be a Smok Tek or Smok Tech eGo clone and nothing wrong with that. Actually the Smok Tech eGo fires @ 3.7 volts rather than the Joytech eGo which fires @ 3.4 volts.
i don't own one real joys but i do have 10 other batteries that work well and never fail me.
if you paid for the real thing and paid the price you would pay for the real thing....just shop elsewhere next time. try discount vapers. Erik will tell you a product is a knock off every time. he is honest and fair.
