By the mod bug.....
I've had my basic 510 for a bit over a month now, and have been dripping when I can, and using cartos when I can't. The cartos don't give me the taste and feel that dripping does, and dripping doesn't give me the convenience that cartos do. So I've been looking into mods to solve these issues.

It looks like a bottom feed box mod is exactly what I'm looking for. However, I refuse to spend hundreds of dollars for something I can do myself. So I've been researching in this forum, and the $8 juice box thread pretty much put me over the edge. When I got into this and dropped cigs altogether I told myself that I wasn't going to get into any mods. I know me, and if it has hobby potential, I'll go off the deep end with it.

So anyway, I've set myself the challenge of making a bottom feed box out of stuff I already have at home. Fortunately, the most critical components I already have spares of from my first month with my 510. I have a 510 batt that the button is broke on that'll provide my connector, a few spare attys, and a lot of 3ml drip bottles I purchased for convenience. Between my RC and woodworking hobbies, I should be able to scrounge everything else I need.

I'll be posting my progress in this thread, and welcome comments and suggestions.

Yea right,,,,

I don't even know you yet and I don't buy that load of BS you just put out,,,, You will be building VV mods within a month.
Of course you won't be able to help yourself. It won't be your fault. Modumust fever is very contagious, there is NO known cure. you can only treat the symptoms. You must keep a supply of symptom relievers on hand. such as blank 510 connectors, 18650 batteries, lexan tubing and never let yourself run out of 3 amp switches.

Edit:
Oh yea get some kanthal and 400 mesh stainless steel sheets to have on hand. (just in case)

I know how you feel. I started with a 20$ xhale O2 from seven eleven. Now I'm trying to find a metal lathe or a mill so I can build a genesis to go on my notcigs buzz. I have thought about making a bottom feeder too. It would seem to be easier and cheaper. What I really want to do if I make a bottom feeder is make it like a connector to go in-line between the battery and atomizer/cartomizer. So I thought I might share that with you and maybe you like the idea, maybe you won't. I thought it would be more convenient for most vapes. I want to make a vvpv but as of now I dont know enough to trust myself with batteries that might go BOOM.

My roughstack looks enough like a pipe bomb to make me nervous.......

Maybe try a basketball/football pump needle? Might be too big I was just trying to think of something common that could work, that makes me wonder if it does work now though. I can't recall whether or not it's to big or not. That is going to bug me until I'm home though haha. Fuel line might leave a funky taste... I suppose it depends on what kind of fuel line it is though. Aquaruim hosing might be good too. I think you want the id and od kinda small. The id being small helps keep you from squirting a large amount and the od is so you can get more juice in your container. I would also think having a large od tube would make it harder to fill. Keep in mind this is all opinion. I have still yet to build a bottom feeder but I've been thinking about it. It would help tide me over convenience wise until I make a genesis, or my own mod of the genesis. Dripping is great but dripping and driving is really hard in a stick haha. Good luck! If I undertake making one, I will post mine in another thread and post a link here.

That's a great idea. I'll have to dig through my stuff and find a pump needle to see what kind of size we have.

The fuel tubing is silicone and hasn't been used. Since a bad fuel line can be the end of a $1000+ RC airplane, I bought it by the roll. The OD is pretty big, and will interfere a bit when it comes to bottle capacity. Fortunately it can be replaced later with some smaller tubing.

Here is a tip. If you have a farm store like TSC in your area you can get needles there or use some aluminum and silicone fuel tubing from the "RC" hobby store or in my case both. Just be warned that once you start there will be no hope of stopping. :) Posted my first bottom feeder last week and I just posted the business end of a bottom feeding genisis atty this morning. I have 4 more mods on the drawing board. Once bitten by "Modumust fever" bug you are toast!!

Thanks Calypso, one thing we have plenty of are "feed and tractor" type stores. I'm going to see if I can get this thing done without buying anything more though.

I haven't had a chance to look through my stuff for an inflation needle, but I did run across something at work that may work. It's a male pin out of a large VGA type connector. It fits almost perfectly in the bottom of the atty, and even has a flared end that'll help with my oversized tubing. I'll have to seal it up a bit, but it's worth a try. Here's a pic of one I modified a bit, and one that's been unharmed in the making of this mod.

Ok, I sealed the pin and ended up plugging it with solder. I'm too lazy to drill it out. I found an inflation needle and it's too big to fit through the bottom of the atty. After days of digging through my stuff, I'm throwing in the towel on not buying anything.

So, I'm going to buy some tubing or a needle, and some new silacone tubing that's a bit more apropriate to what I'm doing. Besides the tubing and rod/needle, I'm pretty sure I've got everything else. Tomorrow I'll gather everything together and make sure.
