Got my black aluminum sigelei zmax today... It feels amazing, good weight, doesn't pick up fingerprints, which is surprising with sweaty hands... However, being new to this vw/vv thing, I am left with a question or two. (I do keep it on RMS as opposed to mean)

For a 2.8ohm head, what range of wattage is considered safe? I've been at around 8.5, but at 9 it starts making a slurping sound (Vision vivi nova v2.5, stock silica wicks atm) is this a sound I should be concerned about? I'm only used to popping noises...

I see some people crank the wattage to 15, some prefer 5... that is a massive range, hence I am confused.

In variable watts mode it will adjust the volts to suit the ohms you are using. Not sure why a slurping sound would have anything to do with the watts - except you are possibly pushing the vivi too much. A burnt juice taste will result if you go too high for the juice you are using.
Just put it in RMS mode and start at low watts, going up until it tastes really good. You don't need to crank it up to 15 watts. I'd be surprised if a vivi nova tasted good at 15 watts.

quite probably. The taste diminishes a lot when I chain vape, probably due to wicking of the silica being sub-par. Guess I will be spending some more time getting better acquainted with my mods menu... yay xD

The new mod sounds great - I didn't mention that before. I use 2.8 ohm heads on my Smoktech Zmax. I wouldn't crank it up to max wattage with the vivi, but yeah, you should be ok with what you're doing. Enjoy.

9 seems to do best, as long as I tip it regularly... can't wait for the cotton rebuilding to commence... What wattage do you usually vape on your zmax, with sweeter flavors, out of curiosity? My taste my change a bit since I've had a few analogs prior to getting this device today. (freaking spinner kept dying at bad times xD )

I usually vape anywhere from 4.5 watts to 8 watts - depends on the juice and my mood. I find I like sweeter flavors warmer.
