So since this will be my first time vaping, I think I will start with the Joye 510 - Standard bundle at Liberty Flights.

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Joye 510

$44.99
2 Rechargeable batteries (manual activiation)
2 x Atomizer
1 x Battery Charger
1 x Power Cord
1 x User Guide
5 x tobacco Carts

This appears to be a good deal considering I was going to pay $139.00 for Green Smoke's strter kit.

Purchase a pack of boge cartomizers and some juice. I'd definitely try a juice vendor for sample size juices.

Just my view but I think you'll find the battery life of a regular 510 lacking one you start using it and go to a bigger battery anyway. I'd personally recommend going for the Riva Kit and if you want a slim battery add a 510 battery and a 510 charger to the order. You're still coming out way ahead of your noted Green Smoke price, especially with the 20% off. I'd also add a pack of Boge 2.0 cartomizers and a bottle of juice as the prefilled carts aren't going to last very long and you'll get tired of filling carts very quickly, they don't hold that much juice.

If you were willing to pay $139, why not get the 510 and the ego from Liberty Flights. You'll have the big battery that lasts 8 hours as well as a smallish pv when you want something small. Carts and atty are interchangeable. Both kits for $75.00. A box of cartomizers, $7.99, 30 ml of juice and you're all set for under $100.

Ranrom,

If you're really set on getting one that looks like a real cig, then be aware of the warnings everybody's posted above. Basically, battery life will have you switching batteries frequently. That being the case, I'd suggest that with any of the cig-a-likes, get a pcc (personal charging case - I think that's what it stands for). Basically, you've got a small box (looks like a pack of cigs) that will charge your dead battery.

Have a look at vape4life (vendor here, not sure if I've got the right spelling). They sell kr808's. What makes those more appealing (imo) is they are actual 3.7 volts whereas the Joye510's are regulated to 3.2 V.

Best of luck to you and welcome to ECF.

For a newbie I would recommend the Volt or Riva SE kit from Liberty flight with B tank atty/tanks. For someone just starting out the Volt would be a good intro to vaping IMHO, and not a lot of $$$ or fiddeling around :vapor: When you decide vaping is for you then go with the Riva SE:)

Before you buy anything, go to this website and Read The Specifications and Features.

If you can find anything that offers something better, buy it.

But I doubt you will.

Seriously great starter kit.

GotVapes E-POWER Replaceable Battery eGo Kit - BLACK [gotvapes-epower-black] - $53.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

That looks like a great kit.

If you want a Joye 510, Puresmoker has one for $34.99 with a bottle of juice

Honestly, getting a smaller, more cigarette like PV for your starter is not a bad idea- as previously mentioned, the Joye 510 is a good one; you can find killer sales sometimes, I got the starter kit with everything liberty flights lists for $40, for $20 on sale from quicknicjuice.com plus a small bottle of juice included (I think they still have them for $28- I got that kit plus the 25% memorial day sale discount).

It probably won't remain your go-to, all time favorite PV- the battery life is crap, quite frankly. But, they usually have a place. I like using it, for example, driving or other times when flailing around with a heavy, odd shaped shaped apparatus is a PITA- for example, just *try* (badly) driving a stick shift around a city while vaping a Reo, drinking coffe, and with your unhappy cat wailing next to you in a carrier- I tried that today and it wasn't awesome. Or if you want to vape outside and you don't have time for a lengthy conversation about what you're doing- I mean, sometimes you have time to do that, other times you just want to be left to vape peacefully alone.

So yeah- I often use my Reo mod at home where carrying around a small box is all right, but there are plenty of situations I use my backup, small 510 PV. My (rather long winded, haha) point is, that even if you go on to bigger and better things after getting a small, cigarette-lookalike PV as most of us do pretty quickly, it isn't really a huge waste of $.

Since I wanted to start off with something in a "mini" for a starter kit, I narrowed my choices down to:

a. Joy E 510
b. Volt
c. Bloog Maxx Fusion

I went with the Volt - Pro Starter Kit from Smokeless Image.

Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Volt - Pro Starter Kit - Starter Kits

Here is what I got:

2 rechargeable lithium ion batteries 65mm
5pk Cartridges in 2.4 Menthol
1 Charging Case Kit

The price was $58.54 after the 10% promo code discount. This may not be "The One" but this kit will at least allow me to gauge what my needs are and become familiar with vaping.

I really appreciate all the feedback and responses. Maybe a few months from now I can give my little 2 cents and help some other newbie. Thanks Again.

This is good advice. It gives you both options at a reasonable price.

Once I got my first starter kit, the learning curve started for me
(and I dropped analogs like a bad monkey scratch).

The compilation of new and useful information about vaping really took off once I had one and was using it.

So, when you get your Volt (a very good unit by all accounts) and begin to use it, a lot of things you don't 'get' right now, you will start to 'get', things will start to fall into place, you'll research some stuff, ...the learning curve will have begun.

I think you made an excellent decision with the information you now possess.

I think almost everyone when they were looking at their first PV wanted one that looked and acted just like an analog.

I know I did, I thought the 'big ones' were old school dinosaurs from 'the beginning' period of vaping, and as technology progressed they would continue making them smaller and looking more and more like a regular analog. My thinking was that the smaller, the more modern and efficient. Unfortunate that the laws of physics got in my way, haha, but one day that will probably come to pass, the world of vaping is really picking up speed quick.

That was my thought process until my learning curve started compiling information and within a week of vaping, studying, etc., I found out a little different.

PS, if you start vaping and get hit by the 'lack of flavor' bug, don't let it sweat you, just know your taste buds are waking from a long and tarry slumber, and it might be awhile before you really can start tasting juices...don't let it get you down, just keep on moving forward, it doesn't last too long.

Big Congrats on your PV purchase!

Enjoy the Volt, it is a good product at a reasonable price and if it gets you off of analogs, Job Well Done!

And how!! Ill second that one!! I paid half a gabillion dollars for my first little 510 kit less than two weeks ago and have already replaced it, but ya know what? I couldnt care less!! I went from a 2 PAD smoker for years to a non smoker in a few days (and it only took that long cause my little 510 kit batteries couldnt hang with the amount of vaping I required to kick my analog habit) And I dont even miss analogs to boot!

    in a cave, eh?
Good choice with the Volt. If you find the battery life lacking, you can look into a PCC for charging on-the-go.

You could also look into a second "big battery system" (Ego, Riva, Echo) as your backup or at-home vape. Also, the "big batts" will let you try out low-resistance atomizers if you're so inclined. Liberty Flights generally has good prices for hardware, but look elsewhere for juice.

    Good luck with your purchase.
