... and some Mills & Boon romance stuff (not my scene).

This made me laugh, because the most popular books at Smashwords and Feedbooks are always erotica and romance.

... the Alfa manager is the dogz. You should try it.

I will.

My Wife has a Nook WiFi/3G. I rooted it so that was able to break her away from being stuck buying from just Barnes&Noble.

I liberate all my books for the same reason. We should be able to shop where we want, bobdarnit!

I have also started writing. I currently have two children's bedtime stories -.99 each, two young adult fantasy novella's - book 1 free book 2 1.49, and one horror short story out - free. :)

I like horror short stories. Link?

Here is the link to my authors smashwords page:

Smashwords - About Robert M. Yelverton, author of 'A Firefly Dream', 'Krae (Book 2 of the Kantura World series)', 'Rashnar', etc.

The free horror is called "It Waits". It is classed as a short story because it is only just over 2,000. Please do not judge it to harshly. LOL! I lost all my works in a fire when young. That is the only one that I can remember from that era of my life. So it is a very early work. LOL! The rest of them are newer.

"Rashnar" is also a freebie. (Book 1 of the Kantura World series) It is a Young Adult/Young at Heart LIGHT Fantasy. It is Novella in words at just over 34,000 words. I have to warn you. If you download and and read it... IT IS A CLIFF HANGER... in fact... it is one heck of a cliff hanger. LOL!

'Krae" is Book 2 (Kantura World series) and it does conclude the cliff hanger so you will no longer be hanging. But it is not free. I demand the ultra high price of .99 cents for that one. LOL!

Ehhh... so sue me. I am cheap. I am just trying to get a foot hold in the ebook market. My proof readers love my fantasy books and want a book 3. I have told them I will only do a book 3 if people start getting book 1 and 2 and leaving reviews asking for it. LOL! But just like anything else it is hard to get known.

Opps, forgot to add. You are correct. It for sure looks like erotica and romance rule the roost on Smashwords. My new books get pushed of the front page so fast by all "those" type books that it makes my head spin. I am really sorry that I just can not bring myself to write that stuff. Maybe I would make some money if I did. LOL!

From across the dance floor they saw each other. Thier eyes locked. Each with out knowing the reason why was drawn to each other. He, with his smoldering eyes and her with full pouting lips. They met and locked in an embrace. Looking deep into each others eyes they knew that destiny had been...

*** slaps myself silly *** what the heck was that?!?! Please excuse me while I go wash. I feel so cheap. LOL!

They all have the same tagline. They meet, love at first sight, elaborate marriage ceremony with marquee in their own 10 acre garden with babbling brook in the background, husband is later unfaithful with prize biatch from hair parlour, terrible love triangle ensues, wife dies of typhoid, terrible guilt complex for husband who never really stopped loving the other 'arf, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah ...
Now I need to jump in the shower too. Damn.

Planetscribbles,
LOL! Hope you were able to make it to the shower on time. :)

Anima,
I hope you do check out some of my works. As far as "It Waits" the reviews are all over the place on that one. It looks like you either Love it or Hate it. No middle ground. Some people want more and ask me to make it a full story and compare it to Steven King OR some people hate it and say that it was the biggest waste of space on their ereader. LOL!
I never thought of it that way. I think you have hit the nail right on the head! With an ereader there is no cover announcing to everyone what you are currently reading. Mystery solved, congrats!

Project Gutenberg has a great e-book collection, all free . I love reading the 1800's Egyptology/archaeology books & the OLD OLD novels .

I got a nook for mom's day & it has 3g ...but I have not figured it out yet...I have figured out the DL'ing adobe digital editions & moving books from web to ADE & then moving over to nook  pita, but it works & I don't have to deal w/B&N.....

someday I'll figure it all out .... yeah right

i jumped on the ebook train when my dad randomly bought me a kindle a few months ago.

after an initial hesitation i've come to prefer it to reading standard paperbacks. it's far easier to hold while laying down or whatever too. my reading has also greatly increased in both speed and frequency, i always read alot but now i zip through books.

No, a Nook Color is not just a glorified tablet. A regular Nook Color's main function is still an ereader with a little bit more bells and whistles.

A rooted Nook Color is like a mid range tablet at half the price of a tablet. :)

There is a difference between the two.

The regular Nook's e-ink screen is better than a Nook Color LCD screen during the daylight. LCD is almost impossible to read in sunlight. BUT, if you like reading graphic novels or magazines then color makes a world of difference.

Is the Nook not just a glorified tablet? I think the e-ink display is what separates a true e-reader from a standard tablet PC.
