Aviationrich, got my fingers crossed for you. We thought our tranny on our Ford went out years ago. We were so convinced we knew what it was, took it straight to a transmission shop. And, of course they were more than happy to replace it. $800 later and a new transmission, it started skipping gears again. Took it to a garage that had the computer hookups for it and found out it was only a $25 computer chip that had gone bad. Very pi$$ed! So hoping you have good news.

Another interesting (or not) tidbit. When I was in college YEEEARS ago, I was at the library and my '68 Mustang one day just refused to back out of the parking place. It was an automatic and my boyfriend pushed it till I could steer it forward. Drove it to the apartment and parked it on the street figuring I'd take it to a garage the next day and find out the damage to get it fixed. During the night, some idiots stole it and took it for a joy ride. The police came in the morning, knocked on the door, and informed me they'd found my car (which of course I didn't even know was missing yet). He gave me a ride to where they !%!@% ditched it. Turned out that apparently the transmission fixed itself, since they were able to open the driver's door, then back it up in reverse past a phone pole and tear the door off the car... Again, very pi$$ed... Replaced the door and never had another problem with the transmission. Go figure. :)

OK, so it's going to cost me 380 to have them take it off and do the inspection. Half of that goes back to the installation though, so that's cool. Don't know of what it looks like on the inside, but it can't be good. These guys sound good to me, plus I can't back my car out of their lot lol:p it's going to take a few weeks, but hey what Eva.

Keeping my head up and triton charged!

Vape on!

My Pontiac Sunfire has a clutch fluid leak. The mechanic told me it's ok to ignore it; it's only one oz. every 6 months.
(There's your cue EV: go!)

I'd still like to know where it's leaking from, but it's just too small to trace.

What year model you got there BigBen?

I got lucky: my 2002 has the newer Ecotech engine. I'm baby'ing it; it's only got 120k miles.

It's a California model I bought in Texas, then dragged to Massachusetts. It seems to have adapted to snow, but the coolant and battery are from Texas, so I expect it to freeze up tonight, as temps dip into -20.;)

I rode out its Texas slicks until the inspection people said "No". :D

BigBen, If it is not leaking in the lines where it could be obvious. It might be leaking out of the transmission, check around bellhousing and the diff, see if it leaks there. Look for a problem in the hydraulic clutch system. Sometimes the seals in the clutch master cylinder fail and won't push fluid through the line to the slave cylinder. Check if you even have fluid in the clutch fluid reservoir. Sometimes the slave cylinder on the transmission bell housing can also fail. Watch the clutch action at the clutch lever (where the slave cylinder will push the lever forward, if operating properly), while someone presses the clutch pedal. If you see no movement, one of your cylinders has failed, or no fluid is available, or the line is plugged, but that is very unlikely for a clutch line to plug up. :p

my cars tend to explode....or roll over into a ditch and catch on fire....or flip into the air and bring down power lines, then catch on fire....or get cut in half by a semi-truck...then catch on fire, or get sideswiped off a an overpass...and catch on fire.

hrm...4 of those 5 are actually true.

i think i drink a lot because of all the explosions in my life. it's a coping mechanism.

I had a friend who had been severly burned 78% of his body when he was a child. Later as an adult he was drunk and high on pot when his car caught on fire under the hood. He pulls over and the blaze and smoke start getting bad. The police pull up and he not wanting to be arrested jumps out of the car like he is on fire. They see to his safety then while they are trying to deal with his car he runs off home since he was only a mile from his house.

This sounds like something you would do.......:p
