wasn't that much into the metal stuff, but I know some songs

I was in it big time. I've seen Motley Crue and Def Leppard everytime they came to B'ham. Alot more than those but to date I've never missed one of their concerts. The last time they were at verizon we took our boys to see them.

I wonder how long a Triton tank will last? Aside from the head, I'll imagine if you don't put any really bad juices in it (tank crack or foggy tank), and rinse them regularly, I think they'd last a year? Who has a really old tank?

And the heads. I lost track, cause I have 7 tanks and 12 heads.

But now I know what I'm doing, I bet I could get a Triton tank with it's head to go 3 months with torque or prime in it, rinsing occasionally. And of course, not going high on the VV, and not running it dry.

Thoughts? Comments?

I've had to replace one tank and coil from my original kit so far. I got it sometime at the end of November. The one original tank will still work, but it has that white stuff at the bottom. I put pictures of it on the first post of this thread. As for the coil, it was kinda dirty and I was poking around at it and broke it. So far so good for me. I got a new tank from Halo, it leaked so I'm sending it to bigben2k. I keep them clean, low vv setting (maybe less than 4.3v). I've only used hot water rinse for cleaning.

Me too - I have one that I think maybe a piece of toothpick got stuck down the middle, because I can't blow through it...
Ok, thank you!
Awesome! I'll get them out this Friday. Is it coming alone good so far?

I've sourced the glass, and tools to finish the piece. Last up is visiting the glassworker, and getting an estimate, for a sample then a bigger run. If it's too pricey, I'll just do it myself.

The other big problem is the food grade silicone: it only comes in a 6 oz tube. I need to figure out a way to break it up in small packets.

No idea how to do the graduations yet.

BigBen, Halo resident tinkerer, quick question which may have been discussed before but not sure. Have you ever replaced the Triton flavor wick w/a cotton "yarn". Not sure if I'm describing this correctly. But not cotton like you would in an RBA like cotton ball but yarn type?

I'm going to try it when the frozen tundra of Indy thaws a little and I can get out and drive. I think it should be pretty easy to find organic, bleach free stuff at like a fabric store, boil it and cut into small strips to use as a flavor wick.

I was just curious if you tried this yet. If so and it was an epic fail, please let me know. I have a few days before I can get out and about. ;)

i've seen RBA with cotton yarn, like the stuff you knit a sweater with, which is usually wool yarn.
worth a try, but I think cotton degrades quicker than silica wicks, so you'd be looking to replace it at least once a week to keep the flavour clean.
you can buy silica wick from fasttech now, 10m 30ft is about $7, will take a month to ship. or source it locally to support USA small businesses.

Thx and ya that's what I'm talking about. It looks like yarn but cotton l I wanted to try cotton cuz it's suppose to produce more flavor although it doesn't last long. But just wanted to try it out if it can work.

What I've seen in other places on ECF is Peaches and Cream yarn which is found at Walmart. Get the undyed and boil it first. Or you can try unwinding a sterile cotton ball then twisting into ropes.

So many things to try, but then again my Triton it working great. Why mess with close to perfection???
