In my life as a smoker I loved nothing more than a menthol cig. I would avoid a non-menthol even if I had run out completely, would wait until I could get my hands on a menthol. Imagine my surprise as a vaper, I absolutely HATE the taste of menthol. (I'm assuming menthol crystals dissolved in pg would be in commercial juices.) I did not buy any for diy, do not intend to, just can't stand that taste like toothpaste/mouthwash.

This aversion has also led to me not trying any mint flavors (peppermint/spearmint/etc.) but now I read about Koolada, that gives a cold feeling without that NASTY taste I've come to associate with menthol.

Who sells it, what brands are available, and how much do you think I'll hate it given my less than stellar ideas about menthol?

Thanks!

I only know of one Perfumers Apprentice - Koolada 10% (PG)

Might want to order the smallest size to find out if it will work for you.

I find a tiny bit goes a long way, but I have read that others use more than I would consider with success.

Yep, a tiny bit goes quite a distance. I usually use around 2%, and it gives a nice, not overpowering, cooling effect. Very nice stuff.

Have you actually tried menthol? Not menthol juice. but real menthol? Unless you waaaay overdo it, there isn't a flavor but more a sensation. Most juice vendors use strong mints and maybe add menthol to it....

No, I haven't because I was biased against it. Guess I'll have to break out of my comfort zone and get some, along with a few mints to try. I love the idea of it, but the reality? LOL

Give it a shot, for a couple bucks you can try out some mints, koolada and menthol. I was a former menthol smoker too, and have found that I can't do menthol at all, but I love the occasional koolada or mint. YMMV of course.

The reason I asked is that I've tried vendors 'menthol' juices, and they're all really just very strong mints. My husband is a 2 pack a day menthol smoker so of course I've been doing a lot of work with menthols. Menthol crystals mixed with pg (you can buy it premixed as well) unless you're using a lot of it is going to give you the same feel that you get from a menthol cigarette...you'll feel it in the back of your throat, nose, etc because it's what's used in tobacco to make menthol cigs...not mint :)

I suppose if you use a lot of it you could end up with a halls cough drop, so don't lol! Lots of folks find they like a bit of menthol with fruit flavors.

That's exactly what I'm afraid of, and why I wanted to try Koolada. If the menthol doesn't taste like mouthwash I'll give them both a try and see what's up.

Thanks so much for all the replies!!
