Hi All,

I am a smoker for 30 years and I have try many methods to quit and suppress my addiction, sadly none of them seems to work.

So I wanted to try e cigarette but it is banned here.

I would like to to learn more about how this can help me overcome my smoking addiction and it would be great if some of the experience members here can guide me.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!

Yes, it really does work. I've been vaping almost 9 years now. The issue you are going to run into is finding vaping setups (battery/tanks) and juice. If you are from "the little red dot" here is a Forum you may be interested in => SG Vapers

Make sure you read all the "stickies" as there are special rules due to the sensitivity of vaping in SG. You will not be able to post there until you have your first 5 posts and the server updates at :25 past the hour.

35 year smoker who couldn't quit until I tried e cigs. Tomorrow is my one year anniversary of being smoke free.

Awesome roxy! I smoked for 28 years (didn't start until I was 24, if you can believe it). I'll have six months down on the 13th, and I'm excited about that, but it'll really feel good come November :)

Be careful tonight, though. On the night before your one year anniversary the Ghost of Cigarettes Past come a-calling! ;)

All these names and lingos really sound alien to me... Lol.

Learning the customs and language of the natives, is a challenge.

I smoked for 35 years and have been 100% smoke free for 5 months now. Without really trying. I just got a Protank Kit some juice and tried it. Noticed a few months later I was no longer smoking, it had been weeks..... I was ONLY vaping, 5 months since that day, not really sure actual last cigarette day.

But wouldn't you ask addicted to the nicotine in the liquid? I saw someone had a footer stating saving a lot of money but when I look at the device, refills and parts or something. They all seems expensive. Sorry I'm new at this and don't mean to sound so negative.

It's not free, and some do overspend. The cost, for me, is about Half what smoking cost.

Yes you will still be addicted to the nicotine. Just like in the cigarette. BUT, the nicotine is delivered, Without as many dangerous other chemicals as cigarettes.

Unlike a cigarette you can change the amount of nicotine in your Juice. This mean you could reduce your nicotine usage to zero over time, and quit completely if you chose.

Maybe, it will no longer be Banned, where you are. I worry it will be banned here, too. In what used to be, The Land of the Free and Home of the Brave.

20 years smoking 2+pack a day habit Akuma...and I didn't even want to quit. Tried vaping to not smoke so much around my computer and I never looked back. Quit cold turkey. Thats how sure I am it will work for you too! Good luck with your journey! Don't bother getting cigalikes...they are horrible. Get you a simple starter kit and let the journey begin!

Akuma, welcome to ECF and I hope you're able to find some help.

Nicotine by itself could be habit forming, but what is really addictive is the combination of all the chemicals in cigarettes. Many studies have proven that nicotine is not addictive to people who have never smoked before and causes no side effects. When the prices, you are experiences sticker shock. It all seems expensive, but it is an up front cost. You can buy a device that you can re-use and only replace pre-built coils or make your own with wire and cotton. The juice will last depending on your habit, but still less than cigarettes would cost you. If you like buying the newest device, then it can be expensive, but it can be inexpensive if you do a lot of research and buy a device that you feel will suit you.

My partner and I smoked for 20+ years. We have tried to give up many times, he's worse than me he's only ever gone a couple of days, with patches, and cranky and stressed as hell.

We are now 3 months without cigarettes. In that time we've had several stressors (teenagers). But haven't even thought about going back to the smokes.

We both use an Aspire Nautilus Mini for day to day stuff. We live in Australia where you can't buy nicotine eliquid but you can import 3 months supply from overseas. Some good vendors in NZ and the US. The initial outlay for the hardware was about $100 each (4 packs of cigarettes). The ejuice is costing us roughly $0.60 a day. I buy 100 mls of 24mg with 50% flavour boost and mix it down using cheaply purchased local pg/vg. We use about 4mls a day between us. The only other outlay is the coils which I buy in Australia for about $2 each and they last 2 to 3 weeks.

So ...

Smoking cost $250 a week for both of us (average 5 packets each)

Vaping after the initial $100 outlay for the hardware (and you can go ALOT cheaper if you wish) is costing us $5.20 a week. For both of us.

Still think it's too expensive?

Also ... my clothes, and car don't smell anymore.
I feel heaps better, no more discomfort in my chest or that yuck feeling when I smoke too much.
No more ash, or cigarette butts.
Don't need to go outside in the cold for a smoke.
Can sneak a quick puff anytime (I do it in the office when my boss ducks out for a minute).
Can sit on the couch and watch TV and vape.
I'm sure there are more benefits, but those are the main ones for me.
