Ok so I want to sub ohm..I have a patriot clone and a svd but obviously I cant use my svd for it and thats where my question lies. What mech mod should I get thats resonably cheap? I dont know the difference between regulated and whatever but I want to be as safe as possible. So in the end I want to be able to vape at 20-30 watts what should I get? Please help!

I'm glad you asked. The question indicates a certain knowledge already.

This isn't my interest at all, but I imagine you can eliminate most, or all the regulated mods right off the bat. I'm sure help is on the way, but for starters you might start looking at Ohm or multi meters. Once you get down to the sub ohm field, the difference of a few tenths Ohm gets really critical.

Any mech mod will work, clones cut the cost way down, you already have a descent RDA it sounds like. I'll throw together a small list of what you'd need, but the hands down most important thing has to be a good battery.

Short list:
Mech Mod (clones/cheaper mechs work well enough)
Kanthal (recommend 24-28 gauge)
Organic Cotton (even Walgreen's carries it)
The most important part is going to be your battery, for safety reasons that is. I recommend a Sony VTC4(or 5), an Efest 35 amp, or Samsung 20amp.

So I can get a nemesis clone? And my 18650 aw imr battery will suffice?

You can, but AW IMR's are rated to 10amps, Sony VTC4 is rated for 30amps, which is a much safer option for sub ohm vaping.

Edit:

River City Vapes does sell the 30 amp Efest batteries, I'd grab them over the AW, if you want to order from one place.

Cool thanks a lot, now I know what to get, now last question lol does the nemesis accept 18650 batteries?

It does indeed, I run it in 18650, and 18350. Another thing with the higher amperage batteries, over AW, is the AW batteries are nipple tops, and don't fit the best in some nemesis clones. On a slightly different note, the 3D clone is natively threaded to fit the Nemesis/Clone without the top cap, if that's something that interests you.

Anyway, short answer, is yes, the nemesis works with 18650s.

You have a few options.

1. Check out a DNA 20/30 mod for a regulated vape up to 20/30 watts
2. Get an ohm tester/meter, read out your coil resistance, and plug it into an ohm's law/wattage calculator (free on google)

I use an ohm tester myself, after you've built a few coils, and checked the wattage on a calculator (check them for 4.2, and 3.7 volts), you'll get a feel for what works for you. I usually do a 5/6 wrap of 24 gauge, single coil, which lands me at about .4-.5 ohms, or a 44/35-34/27 watt vape. Check out this calculator, should help you zero your builds in, and check your amperage for safety.

Yes sir. Just remember that a freshly charged battery will be around 4.2 volts, and after you use it for a while it will drop below 3.7. Also, if you drain the battery to under 3.4 volts, you can damage the battery. Just a few things to keep in mind.

If that doesn't sound like your cup of tea, check out a DNA 20 (or DNA 30) mod. They have all the safety features you're already used to, you can set your wattage wherever you want too.

The combination of your coils' res / ohms and the amount of volts being passed through the coil is what determines watts. Lower ohms and or higher volts = higher watts.
(Voltage^2) / resistance = Watts

I know your asking about mods.... but, with the SVD you have a max amp draw of 5 amps and you can still fire down to .9-1.2 ohms.
What this means is that if you switch to voltage mode and max it at 6 volts with a 1.2 ohm coil you are at 30 watts and right at a 5 amp draw. Check out Ohm's law | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators and play around with different ohm calcs. In wattage mode you are limited to 15 watts, but if you go into voltage mode you can get app 30W, so long as you do not exceed the SVD's 5amp max draw limit.

-Best of Luck-

Right... took me a minute to figure that one out. Have to remember that when using an Ohm's Law Calc the "volts" field is gonna be whatever voltage you set on a VV/VW device. On a mechanical device "volts" is going to be whatever charge is on the battery as there is nor circuit board to regulate/change the voltage. So with a VV/VW you go off of your "volt" setting, not the voltage of the battery itself.

sorry i lied i have 1 more question...since the nemesis clone isnt regulated and i cant control whether im at 15 watts or higher/lower like i can with my SVD...how do i know what watts im vaping at?? or is it like a standard where its always a consistant wattage between all mech mods?

Use this Ohm's Law Calculator. It will become your new Best Friend.

Knowing two values (ohm resistance and voltage) will give you the current (amperage) and wattage. The above calculator is most valuable to insure that the coil that you build does not pull more amps from your battery than what it has in continuous discharge rate. This is extremely critical for your safety.

Always use 4.2 volts as the voltage (full charged battery). Whatever your coil measures out to on your ohm reader will be the resistance. Click the calculate button and you'll get the amps (current) and the watts.

@Baditude Have you checked out the ohms calc I mentioned earlier? ( Ohm's law | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators )

It's one of the best / easiest to use IMO. You don't have to reset all of the fields to make adjustments, simply change a value and either "right click" hit "enter" or wait a few seconds and it will the recalculate w/ any changes you made.

It also has a Coil Wrapping calculator, a battery drain (estimated battery life) calculator, as well as a very good e-liquid calculator (though it does not allow to input flavor percentages it is very good for nicotine and VG/PG ratios).

Have a look if you feel so inclined, I dig it.

-Regards
