The very first e-cig I bought was a small cigarette-size. It was extremely simple to use, and looked and felt like a real cigarette. I thought I'd found the one for me. Unfortunately it didn't take long to find the many flaws with it. The mouth piece would get really hot, to the point of burning my lips, and it was constantly leaking e-juice in my mouth when I would inhale. Yuck. Then I went through a bunch of others and found another cigarette-style e-cig I liked, and I think I'll stick with this one until another (better one) comes out. After all this time I'd forgotten why I had stopped smoking the first one, so I pulled it back out of the box and started using it. It was great, and a lot better than the one I've recently been using (in terms of feeling like a real cigarette). I started wondering what made me switch in the first place. In a comical way, the very next puff, my lips got burned and I got a mouth full of juice:facepalm:

I really wish they would come out with one like the first one I had, but with the benefits of the bigger pen-size ones.

I'm pretty sure that's the latest one I bought (Bloog, right?), and so far I'm loving it. The only thing is it's still a lot bigger than the first one I bought. The first one I can go out in public with and as long as no one is looking hard enough, it looks like I'm smoking a regular cigarette. There's no faking with the Bloog, those things are HUGE compared to the Marlboro shorts I used to smoke:ohmy:

If it's bigger than a "king" size cigarette (think Benson&Hedges 100's) then it's not a KR8. Go take a look at V2's site. Just google V2cigs. I'm not a vendor or anything. I'd give you a link but I'm not very good at this stuff. You can buy them much cheaper than from V2....I'm just saying.

The real question is why would you want to fake anybody out. The entire point is to quit the analogs and improve your health so who cares what others think.
I want others to know that I am not smoking and that there isn't any second hand smoke that will bother them. Plus it usually raises interest and others inquire about the devices and want more info on them.
Vape and do it proudly!!!

I sing the praises of vaping to my friends and family, but that's as far as that goes. In the real world, I really don't like drawing attention to myself and don't want people staring or asking questions. I know that's a slap in the face to all the people who've worked hard at campaining, and I appreciate what they do, but it's not for me. To be fair, I wouldn't have burned my bra in the 60's either. It's not that I don't believe in the cause, I just personally preferr to watch from the sidelines. If you knew me, you would understand. I'm a very socially awkward person and don't like to stand out. When my husband was stationed in Germany I rarely even went off post because the thought of being surrounded by people I couldn't understand was enough to have me breathing in a paper bag.

I don't want anyone to think I'm smoking a cigarette so I chose something that doesn't look remotely like a cigarette in shape or color. Cigarette smoking isn't exactly socially acceptable.

I'm thrilled with my ego 1000 mah batteries and dual coil cartos. I could vape with this setup forever. In fact, I think I will.

Katiecat, I used to feel as you do. I didn't want to draw attention to myself so I used a "fake cigarette" ecig for months. But they just aren't reliable and the battery life sucks. I got over the feeling.

That said, buy a bigger battery model to use around the house and keep your cigarette look alike to use when you're out and about. Some of the larger battery models aren't strange looking (ego, for example) and really aren't that large. You will get much longer usage before they need recharged.

Hope you find what works best for you.

Although I use an eGo and 5v passthrough at home, as a former smoker I have many situations when I'm hanging out with my smoking friends. Many smokers get uncomfortable and self conscious around vaping. They keep asking if I mind if they smoke. I have found that hanging out on the patio at home or outside a bar at midnight, smokers can forget you're not smoking if it's a cigarette type of pv.

I'm not trying to make a point with my pv - it's like religion or politics. But, if you are hanging with your smoking buds using your cigarette-like pv, there's a good chance some will eventually want to try it. I'd rather help them stop smoking than make a point. I used to quietly vape in a bar with my wife when everybody went outside to smoke. Now I go out too and just hang. The fact that I vape with smokers without craving an analog has made it seem even more attractive to some of my friends. I even forget I'm vaping sometimes!

Yeah, I want the form factor of a cig in a 5 volt 1,000,000 mAh battery that lasts a month.

I do know what you mean. I started with cig-sized stuff too (s51 trio, then 510s). Lasted about a month before I was tired of charging batteries. lol. Every once in a while, I wish I had kept a 510, or 808 around for the form factor. Then I tell myself... that's just the ghost of the tobacco monkey that was on your back. It'll fade. And it does.

Took 5 volts for me. That means bulk (more than cig-size anyway) and mods. Oh well. That's what it takes.

Hey katiecat. You may want to check out the GLV2SuperMini mod from GreatLakesVapor. Tiny and oh-so powerful. It hides in your hand. You could get some low vapor-producing juice and avoid the stares and questions in public. GLV has a lot of fans and there's a wait when you order. Good news - if it's not a fit for you there are people willing to pay full or nearly full retail price to avoid the wait in the classified section on ECF. Good luck!

Sooooo, that would mean that you only use your PV/cigarette lookalike in designated smoking areas when in public? It's a given that you would attract lot's of attention if you whipped it out in a social situation where smoking was unacceptable. Say in a resturant or something. I can see it now, "Put that cigarette out!" "It's not a cigarette!" It just looks like a cigarette, expells volumes of fumes like a cigarette and does for me what a cigarette does, but it's not a cigarette, so leave me alone!" Then if you're only going to use it in designated smoking areas, of course you'll fool all the real cigarette smokers with your electronic look alike (not). Then again, when you're vaping in the privacy of your home or with known friends, who cares if it looks like a pipe bomb?
To each his/her own as they say, but my conversations usually go something like, "What is that thing?" "It's my inhaler." "Oh."(end of story)
I use PVs that look nothing like a cigarette. In fact, I would like to make a mod out of an ADVAIR Respiratory Inhaler disc so people in public wouldn't think twice about what I'm doing.
From my experience, the fastest way to attract unwanted attention to yourself is to whip out a cigarette look alike in areas where smoking isn't permitted or to whip out a fake cigarette in a crowd of smokers. I've already been there/done that with a 510 lookalike with the brown cartridge that looked like a filter and all. The unwanted attention was the main reason I went to a big fat ego/riva type. In the end the only person I fooled with a cigarette look alike was myself. Thankfully, everyone else was too polite to laugh in my face.

Your results my vary, and I do believe that whatever device that gets you off cigarettes and keeps you off cigarettes is the right one for you. Im just relating my experience having gone through the same mind set of not wanting undue attention drawn to myself. I also do not feel the need to extoll the virtues of the PV nor notch my belt wih converts. You sound like my kind of person Katiecat. :)

The bloogs come in three sizes. Both auto and manual.

If you find it way too huge, you mush have the 102mm batteries. The one in my avatar picture is the mini 65mm, and I find it's as close to real smoking as I've found so far. If you want to emulate real smoking, I'd suggest getting the white with the red LED, but if you're planning on stealth vaping it's a little more difficult.

I personally love mine, and have entirely quit with the bloogs, almost 7 weeks now!

Keep at it, good luck!

i agree that technology needs to catch up....
first vertical coil cartomizers, then horizontal coil.....i am *VERY* certain that spiral coils already exist (since they would be the next logical step), but they have to sell enough of the horizontal and vertical coil cartomizers first.

is kanger the only one that develops anything new for 808's?

I feel ya Katie. This is the same circle for me. I want to keep my e-cig small and as close to real smoking as possible. It has nothing to do with what others think for me. I simply don't want to smoke on something that is heavy, cumbersome, and wierd.

I use my current e-cig at the bar all the time, and hardly anyone notices it is an e-cig. That is until they actually realize that I am not using an ash tray, lighting up, or replacing cigarettes. I'm always asked by strangers if they can bum a cigarette at the bar or walking down the streets. It works both ways sometimes people know and sometimes people don't.

I always explain to them how it is a healthier way to smoke analogs, without most of the negative side effects. I know I would never have switched from analogs if my only option was larger non-cigarette looking devices. I suppose it comes down to the hand to mouth habit of smoking, and a larger device is going further away from the real thing.

I currently use the Cirrus II batteries from Whitecloud. They are 67mm and have an impressive battery life. They recently came out with the smaller Cirrius III which is 57mm with less battery life, but I won't buy it. The reasoning is these batteries are insanely expensive. I have been using the Cirrus II since January though. I'm sure other e-cig perform similar with a lower cost just have to experiment. My Cirrus II kit came with a 2 year warranty and it's worked since January, so I plan to sit on those until something small and more promising comes along.

About the only thing that is really needed now is a way to really clean the atty's/carts. Big battery - taken care of, big juice holders - very good - something liquid or other that will clean the wicks/wire, nothing. And these carto's are'n dead, they just have a burnt wick/wire that sucks big time. I'm sure the ce2 I'm using could last for years if I could get the wire and wick clean. And yes I have tried all the suggestions that don't really work real well.
