I would really like to see ECF get back to using the announcement system more often.
And I think EVERY attempt include electronic cigarettes in any kind of legislation should be announced.

It only takes a couple of seconds to click the X to make the announcements go away.
But I would think the increase in awareness to these issues would be huge.

They don't have to be long announcements, just one-liners like the following...
--Omaha (NE) attempt to raise taxes on smokeless tobacco and e-cigs: link to thread goes here
--St Lawrence County (NY) attempt to impose stringent no-smoking ban: link to thread goes here

We need folks on the ground in these areas to be aware of the legislative attempts.
It is my belief that the people that need to know generally aren't even aware until it's too late.

If it is a question of logistics or resources, I have some ideas...

Sometimes the Problem with the Internet is not Lack of Information, it's Finding Information.

Like I said, I'm not sure how Up To Date the site is but it is kinda a One Stop Shop for Ban Info in a person's state.

Okay, let me expound a bit further on this topic...

We are done.
At this point, we have lost.

We (and by we I mean CASAA and their supporters) have fought as hard as possible.
We (mostly through CASAA) have been valiant, and even effective, in the face of overwhelming odds.

But those who oppose us saw the threat that we are.
And they figured a new plan, which will no doubt crush us quite soon.

They are going city by city, township by township, county by county, and banning us.
And they are doing it without any opposition anymore, because they are overwhelming us.

How can they overwhelm us?

Because they have millions of dollars, thousands of brainwashed minions, and we have nothing but passion and truth.
But even in spite of our weapons, we suffer from extreme helplessness, apathy, and lack of power.

So yeah, we are going to be buried soon.
At least that's how I see it.

And the fault lies with no one but ourselves.

I hope I'm wrong, and I hope we continue to fight and start winning again, like we used to.
But as long as we sit on our butts, we will become road kill.

Spread the word, and keep them from crushing us.

Wars are Seldom Completely Won or Completely Lost. Sometimes a good Commander will concede a Single Battle, or even an Entire Front, to save resources to Fight Another.

Its not over yet DC2, but ya, it is frustrating and depressing sometimes.

So few people here on ECF have ever visited the Legislative forum nor have the slighest idea whats happening even in their own backyard. Its totally amazing to me how few people here on ECF have any grasp of the reality of what a deeming order issued by the FDA for ecigs and other currently unregulated tobacco products would very likely mean to our vaping world. I read every day somewhere on the forum where people seem to think the worst thing that "could" ever happen is that our nic is taxed at the same rate as cigarettes are currently taxed. Others seem to think there are "too many" people vaping now so no one would dare take it away from us. These people all need a reality check because those assumptions are so very wrong. In some cases our past victories have given people the false sense of security that everything will always work out in our favor. I sincerely do hope that will be the case but IF they dont stand up and be counted NOW there isnt even the slimmest of chances thats ever gonna happen.

Anything that ECF can do to raise awareness of the situation is worth doing IMHO.

We have the means to make a difference as a growing community but everyone has to be willing to stand up and help make the difference and unfortunately so far very few have felt enough of an impact on their vaping habit to realize that if they arent careful the right to vape, as we know it today will be taken away and all those that still need to find vaping wont ever have the chance.

I referred to this apparent new plan of the ANTZ in an answer to another post. This may well be the result of CDC 'seed' money that has been funneled to these "health groups" who then approach the city, county, etc with the fear mongering routine and get them to pass these local and county laws, and then with a foot already in the door press to spread them statewide, with the ultimate goal nationwide. So far they have been able to somehow supress public knowledge of these city, locality, county ban efforts until very close to the meeting date and time, ensuring no public input or objections.

The Alphabet Soup agencies are funded directly by pharma, the small guys by the CDC. Where the heck is that investigation by Congress and why have they not publicly screamed at the lack of response by DHHS, FDA and CDC to their inquiries via letter so far.

I see new members daily on this forum. I doubt many of them even know this branch of the forum exists. I understand they are new to vaping, trying hard to cope, they have a learning curve but do they have ANY IDEA that they can only make this choice because others have paved the way and fought for their right to choose?

Lots of threads out there:

What are you vaping today?
What's under your lip?
Which hardware you you prefer.

Where are the threads started by members that ask:

What have you done for the cause of e cigs today?
Who do you know that can help our e cig cause?
What have you read or heard locally that may damage our e cig cause?

Many pay no attention until something is lost. Then the screaming ensues. If you don't fight for what you want you are going to lose it, those are the facts. They have deep pockets, brainwashed employees, and the zeal to have the power over the rest of us, to be able to have their way and crush us into the dust.

Do you really WANT to have to go back to cigs? Cause if you don't wake up and smell the coffee soon, get active and aware and start watching what is going on around you, you may very well be DENIED any other form of nicotine but tobacco and NRT's, .... or maybe a Blu type e cig stick sized, sealed and unrefillable cartridges with not enough nic in it for most to be comfortable, by LAW. Oh yeah, and taxed to the moon and priced to make sure people go back to tobacco so both taxes and drugs benefit. Pharma execs still NEED those HUGE salaries, houses, boats, etc on the backs of smoking diseased patients. Profits are king to pharma, they will make you sick to profit from your illness if you LET them.

You still have the ability to CHOOSE, and you have the ability to PROTECT THE RIGHTS of those who come later to CHOOSE.

Don't lose hope DC, I think we're far from done. We just need a way to get more info to the masses. As you pointed out, you can have all the info out there, but if one doesn't know it's there, or how to find it, one won't see it. I'm not sure we're helpless or have a lack of power (rather more like David vs. Goliath). I think it's mostly ignorance, and, true to a certain extent, apathy from a few (both here and to a larger degree at Reddit). I like the idea of announcements at the top of every page, or at least one broad statement in general with links to the legislative and news subs. I try to make mention of these things as often as possible (without being preachy) in all the other threads I visit, and you can see I have a link in my signature, but that only does so much. There needs to be more. Hopefully we can find something that works well!

Can you imagine if either of those actions are successful?

I agree- ECF needs a way to bring news about proposed litigation to the forefront- a pop-up even that you have to click away. Sure, it will be annoying to some but it will catch some folks attention. I certainly wouldn't click away something like that if it was in my face and about the area of the country, my state or city... For sure, I'd check it out and see what I could do to help- even if I was a newbie here.

I'd like to see these things announced in a more prominent way as well. I do frequent this forum and cross post anything in NY to the Upstate NY members forum. If I didn't keep an eye on this forum, and CASAA, I would never have known about the proposed ban for NYS etc. (which thank God turned into an under 18 ban). I wonder without a few of us reading and cross posting, how many would actually even know something was going on?

I hope you are wrong also. I have done very little so far other than trying to keep up...and I have a monthly CASAA donation. No reason not to do at least that.
