Interesting. I found that pen on spacepen.com, and they call it Rainbow Titanium Nitride, which is different than the Ken Onion knives that look similar, and are treated with titanium-oxide, and the electrical currents.

Honestly, though, this wouldn't look right with printing. It's a treatment that has to be seen to get the full effect, but it's almost iridescent.

It definately would have to be translucent. We use coatings from a company called Alsa. alsacorp.com
Heck they make a coating that is like a mood ring!
