I have never heard of this Thingy so I did a search and came up with this explaination:

As far as the Thingy goes, it is the container that the tanks ship in. Fiddling with your Thingy is a way to prime your carto. Put in your unprimed carto and fill the tank with juice and put it in the Thingy. Then twist the cap on and off. You'll see bubbles coming from the holes in the carto. Do this until you see a drop come out of the bottom of the carto. Add a few drops to the top of the carto and it's primed. Just refill the tank and you're good to go. This thread explains it in more detail and is a good one to follow. You can ask OCD (he cuts the tubes) questions there too.

How much juice do you think I should put into the thingy to prime the carto?

& I just put the carto in there, not the tank right?

Since I've never heard of this thingy I haven't used it before so I don't know how much juice to put in it but I would fill it to the top of the carto if you have that much juice. Just put the carto in. Maybe that thread or a vid will help answer your questions.

Huh? I've never heard of this method. So you fill the thingy and put a tank and carto in it? I just use a carto condom and a Slap Yo' Mamma tool.
No, no, no!

The thingy is a clear, medicine bottle type container that uses a twist on/off top. You put your empty cartomizer (pre-punched of course) into your tank, fill the tank with juice, then put the empty carto/filled tank into the Thingy.

Opening and closing the top cap of the Thingy affects the air pressure in the Thingy, and forces juice from the tank into empty cartomizer.

This method does work, and for some it works quite well. I've tried it with my IBTanks. It works ok, but I still consider it a "blind" method of filling the cartomizer. There's no way of knowing just how many times you need to do the Thingy priming trick and whether the carto is primed "enough" or if you "fiddle" too much and flood the carto.

I still prefer dripping into the top of the cartomizer to prime it; the drip and thermometer shake technique. I can actually see how saturated the carto is and be assured it has just enough liquid: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3710-5-cartomizer-tank-setup.html

Well. The thingy has finally been explained! Ive seen that pop up so many times and for some reason i was on another quest and never bothered checking it out. I say-Condom AND drip til shiney. Sometimes draw /suck when you've got it in the tank full of juice too without firing up. Make a bubble or two. No gurgle? good! Well by the time you get the thing installed and the juice in the tank and MAYBE a bubble or two with a non fired up suck you should be fine! Unless the carto is defective -packed very tight around the coil with filling. That can happen. Not to me in a looong time though

Fill a carto condom half way, then push the bottom of the carto in to the condom. Watch the top. Instant fill.

Since I received my IBTanks (I have 5 or 6 of them now) I have used the "Fiddle with your Thingy" method every time and it works quite well for me. Once I see the drop coming out of the bottom I stop - then top off the carto with a few drops and I am good to vape.

But since there isn't any right way - whatever method you choose is right for you.
