Ick mouth?

I have only been vaping for just over two weeks....the first week was great....loved it, but now I am finding this horrible taste in my mouth and can no longer taste any flavors while vaping.....except for a strong menthol....then it isn't the "taste" so much as the menthol effect of "cooling" in my mouth. I can still taste flavors in food and drinks, so it is only effecting the vaping experience. Has anyone else experienced this? Have I done something incorrect? Am I using inferior juices? Any suggestions?

We call it Vaper's Tongue, it happens a lot, especially in the beginning. Make sure you keep hydrated, water is your best friend. Try changing up your flavors too. There are some that can power through it, menthol like you've noticed. It should go away after awhile but keep brushing your tongue. I think part of it is flavor overload, and part of it is your taste buds starting to heal themselves after quitting the cigs.

I went through the same thing when I first started. Don't get discouraged. Trust me the "ick mouth" will go away. It took about a month for me. I just kept on vaping and one day I realized I could taste again! Now I will tell you this. Make sure you are using a juice from a reputable vendor. This could have alot to do with your problem as well. Hang in there. It will get better.

Vaper's Tongue/Vaper's Mouth, as the above all said!

Yes, it'll go away on its own. A few things that might help are switching liquid flavors occasionally, brushing your mouth (including your tongue), drinking something acidic (like orange juice), drinking lots of water to flush your system, and sucking on something minty.

Given when it happens--usually early into the experience right after quitting--and the fact that very few of us ever complain about it after six weeks or so, I'm half convinced it's actually a symptom of quitting smoking. Your taste buds are trying to heal, as is the rest of your abused mouth from years of smoke.

Regardless, it does go away. These days I have no trouble detecting the half percent of milk chocolate flavor (not much, in other words) in my DIY mix--and that never changes unless I have a cold!

There's some ways to ease it out.

Brushing you teeth / tounge + mouth wash.
Eating a rice cookie (not sure what their name is, we've round shaped puffed rice cookies, that taste nothing.) I got this suggestion from the swe efc. they look like this

Apparently they "reset" your tastebuds for some reason :) If it works i don't know. A regular mouth wash does it for me! :)

You renew receptors on your taste buds every 10 days. Of course, that doesn't mean they all renew at the same time. The ones not working anymore have just been overworked and went "numb." So, until the ones you've mainly been using renew, vape something the other receptors can taste. IE: If you're been vaping sour, vape sweet.... if you've been vaping pineapple, vape sugar cookie. And to avoid it in the future, make sure you rotate juices every day... ie: vape a sour, a sweet and a more neutral like smokey tobacco off and on every day.

Once again you guys are the best! It started about 4 days ago....day 11 of vaping for me....wasn't sure what was going on, so I changed the coil in my Evod, changed juice...I don't use one juice exclusively...still trying to find the right one or ones...just been experimenting...so glad that this is only a temporary thing...now that I know "what" it is called... I can research it and learn more!!

Check this out...you guys are gonna love this....I have been researching different things....I found several articles that mention Biotene oral rinse as a cure to "vapers tongue". I just so happened to have some in the cabinet that my doctor had recommended when I was recovering from an injury and was on pain pills. I had the worst dry mouth from the medication....
So I got it out and started reading the back....blah, blah, blah...contains enzymes to loosen Biofilm associated with oral dryness...and help maintain the oral environment....blah, blah, blah....what the heck.....I gave it a try.....

...felt a difference, immediately...switched out the heavy menthol for a light honeysuckle flavor and gave it a whirl.....can totally taste hints of the honeysuckle...not full strength, but definitely there....I'm gonna keep trying it out...up to 5 times a day....will keep you updated!

OHNO!!! the dreaded VT! ;) you are doomed you will never taste anything again I realy like fast food places now since I cant taste anything any more. And all that prespiced raw meat from the grocery store that I could never eat.... well its fantastic... tastes like ummm paper Nope J/K... :) your taste will return in due time ( for some its a couple of days for others a couple of weeks) try vaping other flavors too, the consistant flavor gets turned off by the tounge just as a consistant smell get turned off by the nose....
