I'd like to know a little about cotton wicks..?

I am interested in building my nimbus with micro coils and cotton wicks. I read that you can just get some organic cotton balls from CVS, Wallmart, ETC and that should do the trick. But I've also read about not dry firing cotton wicks and stuff. Anyone could give me some sort of information about cotton wicks and how to treat them, that would be super helpful.
Thanks!

Cotton has to be wet... hit it dry and you burn it. It has zero heat tolerance, unlike silica or ekowool.

Sterilized cotton, you generally don't need to boil to remove contaminates... although, I can somehow taste a chemical residue, so I have to boil all cotton except for (some unknown reason) a particular brand of Japanese make-up pad.

I'm running a Nimbus right now with 28 ga. 8 wrap micros and cotton... it's nice. :)

So what you're saying is when I purchase my cotton you recommend me to boil it?
To do so I'm guessing you guys throw it in boiling water, let it sit for a few minutes, wait for it to dry then install?

You've pretty much got it right. I use the sterile hypoallergenic cotton balls from the first aid section at CVS.

As far as treatment, all you need to do is boil the cotton for aboit 20 minutes. Some people do this more than once. Whether or not you boil them is up to you. Some do, some don't. I don't.

Do not dry fire on cotton--you WILL burn the wick. Test fire the coil without any wick in it. When you're to fire it gor the first time with the wick in, make sure that it's completely saturated. When it comes time to clean the coil, pull the wick out of the coil, dry burn, and rewick.

No... I'm saying that I do... but if you don't taste anything odd with sterile cotton (and most people don't)... then you can use it right from the bag.

Lots of "methods" for boiling. Me... 2 times for 5 minutes in a Pyrex pan, press out the excess and let it dry on a plate.

sterile cotton gauze is what most people buy most people dont boil sterile cotton gauze. so just rip or cut off a strip and roll that between your fingers and hands and it will turn into a strand. then twist both ends in opposite directions. and roll it between your hands some more do this a few times until you can fit the wick down the length of the micro coil. after that untwist the wick this will cause the wick to expand inside the coil. soak it in some juice. preferably pure VG and or PG or at least 0 nicotine. then keep untwisting the wick. when you think the wick is expanded as much as it will go soak the wick with juice. and let it soak for a few minutes. then test fire it.

A little interested as to why you recommend me to use pure VG or PG? Will it be a problem if I use the normal 6MG juice I vape on? Also thanks for all your help!

the reason is because your skin will be in direct contact with nicotine for a while. nicotine will absorb through just about any part of your body skin included. "after that untwist the wick this will cause the will to expand inside the coil. soak it in some juice. preferably pure VG and or PG or at least 0 nicotine. then keep untwisting the wick." after you soak the wick the first time you need to try to untwist it a bit more. some times you can get it to expand a bit more after its got some juice on it.
