I don't know what happened to the idea and suggestions forum for e-cigs so i'll just post this in general.

A brilliant idea hit me. Dripper have issues with liquid dripping down into their batteries and hitting the switch. This has made atleast 2/3 of my witches sticky. I have to blow in before I can draw. Extremley annoying.

It would seem that a sollution to have cheaper universal batteries, would be to do one of two things, both of which would seal the actual battery from liquid.

1. Move switch into atomizer. Vent the switch itself, instead of having an airpath through the battery. Essentially convert the battery into a manual battery. Or...

Or 2. Make e-cigs 4 piece. Battery, switch, atomizer, cartridge. Again, converting the battery into a manual battery.

Another posibility that this would bring to automatics, and manuals, is variable draw. You could possibly create different switches with different draws.

It seems like a colossal waste to build a switch into each and every battery, when you could make them a seperate part, charge for them. E-cig users and manufacturers win. Manufacturers can get rid of one complex part of the battery that often creates returns on perfectly decent batteries, AND make a liquid leak past the atomizer much less costly for all involved.

Edit: Found out that my idea has been executed in the kissbox. Why isn't this more common?!

Thoughts?

Janty has the Dura-C if I'm not mistaken.
Batteries, manual and auto switch, atomizers.

Manuals should be sealed anyway, there is no need for the central hole anymore (except KR808 maybe).

You can seal it yourself with a tiny blob of lead-free solder if they are not already sealed.

There is another problem with the button also: it can't stand too much clicking either. They die in few months so having them in the batt is cheaper cause most of the time you discard the battery for being used anyway.

I like your second idea better. It sounds like the Janty kissbox? Is that roughly what you are trying to describe?

Your post reminds me of an idea I had today and ironically I too was looking for an idea forum to post it.

Here it is: the cartless e Cig

Does anyone know of an e cig out there that completely eliminates the cartridge? I am envisioning a design that you could just refill a larger amount (rather than drip..drip) a small compartment with the nicotine solution directly. There would be no batting or foam in the compartment, just a constant stream of juice right to the atomizer. When it runs out, you pour more in.

This would make a 4 piece design you are describing very desirable as it may aggravate switch problems.

Upon further investigation of the kiss box, that's EXACTLY what i'm thinking of.

Why isn't this design more prevalent? It would allow suppliers to sell cheaper batteries while allowing e-cig enthusiasts to save money on dead batteries, as well as preventing the sticking switch batteries.

Seems like a simple, cheap solution to allot of problems.

IMHO the Kissbox line is great. A breakthrough product when it came out. Im not sure why others didn't do a 4 piece design. Patents maybe?

One drawback of their particular design however is that there is an initial charging procedure of the dumbed down batteries. I think you had to charge them for 4 hours use it then charge it for 12 then charge normally or something like that. I guess when they took the switch out of the battery they took out the smarts too, which would be obviously required for the separate automatic switch. I think these "smarts" may regulate and simplify the charging process.

I wish someone would invent the cartless ecig though!
