Would it be possible to to ditch the usb plug with the small wire(which makes me nervous) and just make it plugin via a mini usb plug on the end so you could use cell phone charges and car charges to charge them up. The little short wire is just hard to use for me, luckily I had an usb extender. Anyone else like this idea, maybe the V4L folks will run with it.

It would be possible. The plugs would come close to doubling the price at that volume. They're a LOT more expensive than you'd think.

Extenders on chargers aren't a good idea. Each plug adds resistance on an already borderline current draw. Adding additional resistance in even more wire is putting a lot of load on there that you probably don't want.

Overdrawing the USB port. If you're plugging it into the wall, you're probably fine. If you're plugging it into the computer - shutdowns, crashed ports, increased wear-and-tear on the board - primarily to the polyfuse and chipset, maybe the pads on the board.
I did have to reboot the other day because my phone wouldn't connect, maybe that was the problem, did not know that. I am using a wall plug now. I would still pay a little more to be able to use the mini usb cause I have so many laying around, it looks like it would free up a bit of room in the PCC as well.

I think that is an awesome idea. One other idea, and I know this would increase the size, is to add a slot for a 2nd battery. Personally the only reason I dont invest in the KR8 batteries and PCC is the fact that I would still have to carry a unit assembled with me. I would prefer to just break it down after each use and put it all back in the PCC. I know I could get a Leaford Lanyard, but I prefer having it all in one case. Would be nice, but I guess its all up to the manufacturer.

It wouldn't have to be much bigger really, they could design the battery to be the length of the case and thinner rather than just the square, making room for another battery and put 2 cartos end to end rather than side by side.

when I first got it...I thought it was stupid...but now I understand...with the little USB cord you can charge the PCC anywhere you go.

I plug it into my keyboard at work. My Girlfriends laptop, my laptop at home. the desktop at my parents. No need to carry around a wire. I like it...but I do think it could use a redesign.

Unfortunately...that is the standard PCC for the 808. It wasn't developed by V4L, it was developed by Kanger.
