Does the wick in the new HH .357 and hybrid atomizers get the liquid from the stainless steel mesh? I was thinking about combining a hybrid atomizer with a gummy tank. That way the mesh is always wet until your tank runs dry. Any ideas?
hey Akya sounds good. this past week i took apart a CE2 and replaced the silica wick with some mesh. didnt work so hot. But it worked quite well for Dan so who knows. was thinking the same idea you have using the 357 atty but onlything that comes to my mind is just basic thing like a top feeder tube dispensing 2 small drops at a press of the tube. i prefer top feeders much better. and when i had made my Phidius into a top feeder it worked great except it would leak once in awhile so i took it back off. so someone may come up with a good idea so all we can do is wait. im tired of dripping though. good luck with this Akya

Yesterday I did a bit of experimenting. I pulled my VPX tank apart, stuck a regular old 510 atomizer in it, and used the pointed engraving dremel bit to make a TINY hole, probably a 1/3 of a mm or smaller, in the side of the atty, right next to the bottom cap. I also had to dremel 1/8th inch off the tube to support the shorter length of the atomizer. I've been using it for almost a whole day with NO LEAKS, NO FLOODING. Just deep, flavorful hits every time, equal in flavor to dripping, and plooms of vapor.
I put a couple pics up here:

Perhaps this could be adapted to the Hybrid/Gummy tank idea? The trick to putting an atty inside a tank seems to be to make the hole small enough that it doesn't break the surface tension of the e-liquid, except when you take a puff.

should the atty be debridged or just keep it all together? i kept all my tanks. figured they would come in handy for something. the CE2 didnt work well for me. it was ok but no where like an atty. nice pics Dalton

I leave the bridge in my atties. I just stick a plain untouched Joye atty in there, made the tiny hole, put on the tube, filled and put the cap on. If you try it the hole needs to be just big enough so that if you shine a light on the hole, you can see light pass through on the inside, and no bigger or it will flood it. I thought about making 2 holes 180 degrees apart, but so far it doesn't seem to need it.

I should have pointed out the reason I only needed to shave off 1/8 inch of the tube is because I have the mini VPX tank. That may be important. I regular atty isn't near long enough for a regular length tank.

Similar to what you are saying. I was talking about removing the sleeve and making a hole just above the press fitting. This would make it so that the stainless mesh contacts the liquids. That way there is less risk of flooding. The mesh will only take what liquid it needs to fully saturate the atomizer. The way you are doing it the size of the hole is determining rate of flow. The size of hole would do the same in the setup I am talking about but the mesh once fully saturated; if the hole size is right, the mesh should stop the flow. Yours is cool though because it auto drips slightly when it gets tilted back far enough for the liquid to reach the hole. The heated atomizer might actually make a pressure difference in the tank expelling fluid into the atomizer. Maybe not though.

Yeah. I did it today with an older LR I had because I didn't want to ruin a good new atomizer. Now I wish I had done it with a fresh atty haha. It works great. I had to tinker with the flow hole a bit but it works nicely. Other than filling it and fitting it. I took 2 sink grommets and a piece of polycarbonate and made a tank over the atty. I took apart the atty removed the nickel mesh and replaced it with stainless steel mesh and made a hole just above where the press fitting ends. Fortunately I put the hole close enough to the grommet that I could close the hole I made more. Too large of a hole caused flooding. Once I got it right I can vape until the tank is empty. It kinda reminds me of the sucaton. When I draw for a vape it pulls fluid in the atty. I still need to figure out how to make assembly user friendly. Filling is a bit of a pain. Once I straighten out the kinks in my design I might sell some of these if any one is interested. I will post pictures tomorrow.
