Idea - the "great big testimonials" project

Hey everyone,

Here's an idea I wanted to moot with you all. We have now, for many months, been responding to a wide variety of people and media.

Many of us have written long and heartfelt testimonials describing exactly what e-cigarettes have done for us, and sent them off to newspapers, legislators, health charities - you name it.

What I think we should now do is start a project where everyone can post up their testimonial on the forum for all to see. Additionally, we should encourage all members to write a testimonial, even if they don't want it to be published on the site.

Then, when we wish to target an organisation, everyone has their writeup ready to go; they just copy, paste, print and send.

We will also have, on the site, a massive database of personal testimonials that can be seen by anyone who is new to the world of e-cigs.

Thoughts?

That is an amazing idea in my opinion. I'd be glad to write one up, totally support this idea.

*edit*

One of our main problems is how unaware people are about the good that comes from e-cigarettes. None smokers/e-smokers simply don't know enough to care about these devices. If we could just show people how effective these things are at improving our lives, I think people would pay attention. This seems like a real legit way of getting positive attention.

Good idea. To take that a little further, there should be a single post that collects noteworthy commentary and positive recommendations from professionals and significant parties. The first post in this thread should have shortcuts to all the subsequent posts (throughout the same thread) and be locked so the entire thread will only contain these specific posts. This allows visitors to find just these types of information easily.

Second, a post that links to outside news stories and essays that allow readers to post comments. Also, a separate post that links to stories and essays that don't allow comments. The reason for the separation is to allow us to easily find the posts we wish to add our sentiments to or the posts we simply wish to read.

Third, and perhaps the most ambitious, we need a ECF wikipedia to help collect the wealth of facts we've amassed including hardware specifications (i.e., manufacturer spec. sheets), scientific facts on liquid components (e.g., PG, VG, etc.), maintenance techniques, established mods (PV, cartridge, etc.), and all of the immense amount of other information we've gathered over time to help bring clarification to others.

OK, 2 things quickly:

Firstly, we are in the process of developing a "CMS" - this will be the perfect resource for any wiki-type information. It should be up and running pretty soon.

As it happens, we do already have a wiki - e-cigarette-wiki.com but it's never really been utilized.

Secondly, the sticky thread you speak of is a very good idea. I will get that up and doing asap.

Thoughts?

Well, how about a dedicated domain, owned by ECF, but ostensibly independent and autonomous? For the sake of impact and focus?

I would love to have a, say, www.eciglives.org, in my evangelization arsenal. “Please, take a good look at them, everyone of them. Real people touched, real lives changed. See? That's what it's all about”.

Priceless on the war for hearts, lungs & minds.

I have another idea. How about a hall of fame area. We could have a few catagories.

Political- for polititians who have stood for health, safety and rights for harm reduction and vaping. eg, Governor Schwatzenegger for vetoing the CA ban.

Professional - for professionals who work in the anti tobacco area who advocate for vaping as part of a harm reduction strategy. eg, Bill Godshall.

Medical - for doctors and health professionals who help us by providing medical data and actively promote harm reduction for thier patients.

Legal - for lawyers who work for protecting the legal rights for harm reduction.

Grass roots - for people who are active in organizing vapers clubs and activist groups.

Technos - for people who make contributions to vaping by innovative products that make vaping a more enjoyable expirience.

We could have nomination threads where people could make the case for someone to be included on the list. A commitee of super members would then vote from among the candidates or we could have vote in the thread and let the whole forum choose.

I think it's important to write letters of thanks and give proper kudos to people who are helping with the cause. I guess I tossed in a couple of nominations in there,,, :)

This ties in with an idea that keeps recurring in my mind, but i'm not sure how exactly it could be done.
I read a kazillion testimonies from all over this forum (some very randomly placed) before I ordered my first kit. Compiled, they would, I think, make a mammoth, tall, heavy stack of documentation.

I've fantasized spending an impossible amount of time scouring every inch of the forum for success stories, amazed tales, positive health reports, the works (just testimonials, not edifying argument and facts, etc - that's the other project, which is always in process here), printing them, every one (1 story per page, for weightiness, unless very short), having them bound, and making sure that copies were ceremoniously presented at the right moment to legislative bodies considering bans. THUMP. What if the folks who were invited to Albany had been able to leave THAT in their laps, along with the excellent explanations and arguments they presented??

Problem is, I'm thinking that it's probably illegal to print and distribute people's stories w/o permission? - and this needs to go clear back to 2007. Is there ANY way this could be done? And does ANYBODY have the time (I'm pinched half to death), or could a group get on this, if I'm not the only one who likes it?

Thing about having the old ones in there is that no significant physical damage has emerged amongst long term vapers - some of those guys are still around and could re - testify...

plus the impressiveness of sheer numbers of persons from all walks of life expressing their enthusiasm.

All I can do is put the idea out. What you tink?
