This morning I was greeted in my email by this proposed legislation.

The state of Hawaii wants to be the first to TAX THE HELL out of Electronic cigarettes. Please read.

Hawaii's state legislature recently introduced a bill that would ban the sale of electronic cigarettes to minors and classify the product and every accessory associated with it as a "tobacco product" for the purpose of taxation. As you might imagine we strongly support any measure that would ban the sale of electronic cigarettes to minors. However, the bill has many unintended consequences that endangers suppliers, supporters and users of electronic cigarettes in Hawaii and nationwide.

These bills would unfairly tax the sale of electronic cigarettes and every electronic cigarette accessory in Hawaii, regardless of whether or not it contains tobacco/nicotine, at a rate of 70% of the wholesale price. This tax in turn would force Volcanoecigs to move out-of-state or close down due to the tremendous competitive disadvantage that would be placed on us.

These bills would also force local Hawaii electronic cigarette users to either purchase supplies from out-of-state and international vendors (who are not hampered by this unfair tax) or force those users to resort to smoking again. These bills could also be used as a roadmap to affect laws in your state, which could create a domino effect of state legislation across the USA endangering access for all vapers to farily priced electronic cigarettes and accessories regardless of where they are geographically located.

THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW!!!

We are mobilizing the local vaping community as we speak and need the help of all of our customers nationwide! We humbly ask that you submit your testimony to the Hawaii state legislature in opposition to these bills. Explain why you think this bill is unfair and how it would affect you as a user of electronic cigarettes no matter where you are. Would this prevent you from ever wanting to visit the state of Hawaii? What would a 70% tax on electronic cigarettes and supplies do to you?

Please share this link with any and all of your friends and encourage them to submit testimony as well. Residents from any and all states are welcomed! We need all the help we can get to prevent this bill from passing! We sincerely appreciate your support and send you the warmest Mahalo...

If this passes and this model catches on in other states We Are All Screwed. The FDA will have won without firing a shot.


As this Bill and any copy cat bills for other states has the ability to effectively cripple this entire e-cig industry, I suggest ECF create a message about this issue and make it a STICKY in as many forums as possible !!

Don't forget, write a short testimony of what e-cigs mean to you and counter the points of the bill.
