This is a room I found online that has all the colors I want, light yellow walls, blue willow china and oak wood.

Now I have an idea for my dining room/office.

The room is 10x15 and has an 8 foot set of windows along the back wall. Where you see a door in the picture I also have a doorway to the kitchen. On that same wall on the other side where the row of pictures are is a window that is over the sink.

I want something like the fabric in the picture for the chair seats (I can sew). I have a corner china cab for my blue willow. Where the pictures are will be a 32 inch tv hanging on the wall..hey it's MY room..Mike gets the living room with the big TV..he clicks and it drives me nuts!

I like sunflowers and have them in my dining room now..including a couple of sunflower prints.

I would like the main elements of that room..like the stained glass, flowers and wall color. I have been looking into stained glass look cling film for the upper windows. Maybe I should do curtains instead or shades, I am lost!

Anyone have any cheap ideas for me? Oh yeah one wall on the far end, next to my desk will have bookcases for my books, videos, Cd's and dvd's. (three 7x2 1/2 foot bookcases.)

I have to agree with Look, I love the color's and the warmth of the rooms but in the first picture, the stained glass draws your attention away from everything else, maybe it's just that particular sun catcher, I don't know, but the wooden shutters would look darling and add more warmth and really bring out the furniture and your color's, I don't know how expensive the shutters are but you can also get faux wood blinds, I have a seperate TV room to because Gib and I Do Not watch the same shows, and I have to close my blinds because I have trouble seeing the TV during the day because of the light coming through the window's, don't know if you have that problem but it's something to keep in mind.

Those stained glass films never look "right" imho. Shutters let in beautiful light and you can control it. Alternatively, it would be fairly simple to build a light box for a real stained glass piece and light it from inside and use it as decorative hanging somewhere else in the room. Then you can have the best of both worlds :). Congrats on your Woman Cave!

I think wooden shutters are soo cute but they're a booger to keep clean! I have a wall that is almost entirely windows and went with the top down, bottom up blinds. (now i don't have to worry about having the fishermen looking in at me 1st thing in the mourning!) I like 'em cause all I have to do is run the vacuum over them. Love the colors! Warm and cozy! You can sew so just get the material and recover some older pillows, that'll save some $$. Nothing beats the smell of a freshly painted room!

I would love shutters, but the window opening is 8 foot wide..it has 3 sets of windows in the single casement. So no stutters. But wood blinds are an idea! Denim seat cushions are an idea..then I could use plaid place mats.
Loving the idea's ladies.
Oh! I forgot to add..there is a ceiling fan but NO lighting! I was thinking about a light on a chain over the table..what is that called? Swag lights! Kind of 60's but in an add on room with no crawl space it's hard to add lighting. At one time in the past I remember a light in the middle of the ceiling, but mom replaced it with a fan (much needed!..that room gets very hot and very cold). I know I could add a fan with a light but it would be off center to the table.

Careful with that warm butter yellow MK - I did it in my foyer (I was looking for the color of the inside of a banana) - the morning sun hits that foyer through little windows in the top of my door....can we say NEON? Whatever light yellow you fall in love with - consider bumping it down a shade or two so you don't feel like you're living in a box of crayola crayons!

Love plantation shutters -but they are pricey (compared to other window coverings) - I have the faux wooden 2" blinds - (Penneys) - they are now carrying 2" basswood blinds at penney's for almost the same amount at the fake ones - they come in a "silk white". When I can no longer get these fake ones clean enough - I might consider the basswood - I originally wanted the plantation shutters - but the budget wouldn't allow it.

My mom had a swag - tiffany style light over her table- it was gorgeous. If you look around you might find one at a good price as the way the economy is - people aren't exactly falling all over themselves on higher end lighting needs. I purchased a tiffany style wall mirror in the penney's clearance section 5 years ago- got it for half price.

Great idea's beebop, I have a tiffany style table lamp in my tv room, I bought the stain glass shade at a flee market, the man that made them had all kinds at super good prices, then I found a base I liked and there was my lamp, it's my favorite piece in the whole room, MK if you could find a tiffany shade like that, you could either go with a swag lamp or table lamp., whitch ever.

sorry I forgot to respond to the yellow paint comment. I read on a site about decorating that yellow is the hardest color to choose because it is so dependent on the light..too much and it becomes too YELLOW! and not enough and it looks greenish. I agree that less is better.
It's like salt..you can add more but it's a pain to take it out! Ok..pick a yellow and then step it down.

This is a close up view..daughters stuff is in the carport! I would like to paint it a light sage green down the road..the next picture will tell you why.

There are a pair of 200 year old live oaks in the front The pretty green light that filters down would be perfect for a light green house. The hedge is in need of some TLC!

I found some seat cushions for my new windsor light oak chairs! They aren't as dark as the ones in the pictures on the first page..but pretty darn close.

Mike and I found some swag light kits on-line for 12.00..now all I need is the perfect shade.
