I'm bothering my brother to try out ecigs and I know that style is going to be of importance to him. He's also outdoorsy with his atv and is a welder, so "clutz-proof" is also a high priority. Beyond that, something that is "starter-ish" that isn't the standard 510 analog look-a-like model. I'm looking for something that is $100 or less for him as I don't think he'll appreciate me telling him to get a silver bullet right away :D I do think that he'll appreciate a lower maintenance, high durability and longer battery type pv will be best to try and get him hooked and stay hooked.

Here is a list of what I was going to have him look at:

1. Redds Premium Starter Kit

2. E-Go (original, C, P, T, W, vgo) Would love to know which model would be best, although I'm thinking the ego T looks like the best bet. Also, from the various ego models, I noticed that most of the kits come with the atty + cart combo and I don't think that would be a good vape experience. Please fill me in ego vapers if it would be better to build a kit with cartos or something like that :)

3. VMod XL

4. A pipe mod of some sort. Recommendations please.

5. Maybe the Altoid box mod?

Anything else you think I should add to the list? I would like to keep it canadian for him because I don't think he'll feel too confident about having to go through customs with this stuff.

Oh that's a hard call, but you've selected some interesting items. Redds will be the least scary and is probably the most clutz proof. lol I can't remember if the batteries are sealed or not, but maybe stick with 'sealed' in the beginning.

Personally, I would build an ego if I had known what I was doing to begin with. I think a user realizes there are so many better options or add on's to a kit. I also know, it's hard to know what you like, unless you try it. So maybe a sampler kit would be nice.

I'm not much help, but still wishing you luck on the conversion. ;)

I don't think it really matters too much what he starts out with, other than getting something easy to use. I think I'd start someone out with a tube mod and a tank, fill er up and you are good all day :) This costs a bit more but he will want something like this soon enough, why buy more hardware? However pretty much anything will do that is half decent, 510-t kit, bloog mini, redds, etc.

1. Redds Premium Starter Kit: if he is looking for Battery life, why not try 12+ hour 808's PRO: one battery will last 12+ hours, one cart will last 1.5hrs. CON: you MUST use the specific V3 carto's on it. If not, why not try the 102mm 480mah bloog maxx fusion's with the redd's carto's? Longer battery life with a harder hitting carto

2. E-Go (original, C, P, T, W, vgo) Ego-T (Note: make sure it is the LR version!), on a ego 1000+ battery (maybe pass through). PRO: the plastic carto is easy to fill and clean, great for someone just starting out, perfect opportunity to learn one's vaping skills and styles. CON: The little "needle" attie inside can be a real pain in the ...... If you are not used to ---- or by some freak twisted joke of nature the growing buring taste does not phase you and you do not refill the carto when dry, you burn this thing up faster then you can say wuzzah wuzzah

3. VMod XL: no clue what this is. In a search i found what looks like a bottom feeder? Maybe someone with more experience can talk about it.

4. A pipe mod of some sort. Recommendations please. Hands down i would say Saber touch Variable mod and not bat an eye. HOWEVER: This takes staked batteries, and i am not sure how much you will be around your bro as he start's....It is not for those just starting (present fur ball writing this excluded....but that was only because mind field was busy peeling me off the ceiling and loosing sleep answering all my questions in pm before i got right into it). By the looks of it, and two great mods which are aimed at the n00b and the seasoned vet....Knight Rider Mini kit the site i made a hyper url two has everything you need. Sure there are two batteries that you get, but it only needs one at a time. How about something that is super sturdy, and very sleek and sexy? Try the Lambo which looks like a higher upgrade to the KR mini

5. Maybe the Altoid box mod? again you said he is a n00b correct? maybe hold off on this until the one month anniversary, or until you bro knows more? Then again if he knows all the battery and volt stuff could be a good idea.

Howl'n Recomendation

Seeing as he is coming from cigarette's, and yes the PV does not need to look like a smoke, but make sure you have some export tobacco from flavor crafters in your gear box. This is just like smoking a cigarette (taste wise) and in the days of him being of the cigarette's, it might be worth it to have something that fights the craving for the stixx?

Then again, make sure you have a 20 pack of the stix in your gear box....why? Well if there is intensive, mind blowing cravings.....best to have a parachute as it where, and if it is one smoke here and there then all the more power and encouragement to have it. This way in the minds eye it leaves a positive experience, and lets face it to be a hard core vaper you need a happy beginning right?

This has been my 0.02 cents from the cabbage patch comment gallery

I think the most hassle free setup you could get him would be a ego kit with some stardusts and cartomizers. T and C systems would be a hassle for a new vaper i think. Filling up a stardust is about the easiest thing you could do, cartomizers less so, but it would be good for him to try both. If you are willing to go a little more on his budget, you could build a ego twist kit for about 100 with a couple SD's and 2 packs of cartos.

Small batteries are a hassle, they just don't last long enough. If you do go that direction, i think you'd be better off going for a eigate kit from canvape, or a smoov kit from jrcustomturning. You get a lot more for your money that way over the redds kit.

The vmod is really nice from what I've heard, but you'll be paying about $150 to HV with batteries and a charger. If you're ok with that, it would be a good choice.

During a TVN show, JeffakaSlinger owner of motorcitymodz demonstrated the durability of his mods by slamming it against a table. His mods are indestructible and have a factor of 10 for eye candy. Your brother being welder will appreciate the steel factor. Point your brother to Jeff's site & I'm sure he will drool over something.

I sent off an email to him with the various looks and styles and just have to wait and see what he thinks.

@kingcobra: It could go either way with him for expenses. He may love it and go ocd with hardware and/or liquid. I just wanted to find options that would be a good start that hopefully won't scare him off right away.
@Constantine: He's a couple provinces away from me, so I won't be there to show him how it works.
@Toronto_Mike: I looked at those and they are really cool, but I don't think he'd be into the "combat" style of those mods. If they made a mod look like a train engine, then maybe.

I gave him some eye candy options to look at as well as some liquid vendors to see a large degree of flavours that he could try out. He's like me and he really just likes to smoke, so there's no desire for him to quit just because he likes it. I'm hoping to change his viewpoint on it and show him that he could love vaping too. I'll update once I hear a response from him. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

I think by pipe mod he meant the ones found at Hand-Crafted ePipes, custom made personal vaping devices from ePipeMods.com ...more than just an eCig or Jazz cartopipe the first Cartomizer Pipe or electronic pipes

They are all great vendors. My favorite mod is my pipe from epipmods.com. I find them to be the most ergonomic pvs, and most people get a kick out of them.

Definitely an eGo batt (1000mah+) with Stardusts for a beginner. Easy and satisfying if you ask me. The are a few Canadian vendors who offer this combo in a kit.

It's a great setup for a newbie vapor. Easy to fill, easy to carry, decent battery life - not expensive to replace and egos allow so much in the way of learning as you can use cartos, tanks, atties, clearos - whatever you like can pretty much work on an ego.

Lemme drip & enjoy... besides, you have to stop to smoke or vape on an atv anyways ;)

I'll keep that in mind from someone with personal experience ;-)

Is yours a recreational atv or one used more for work stuff. My brother has a camera that clips onto his helmet and has taken some pretty cool videos. He plays hard with his atv in water, mud and steep hills and also uses it in the winter to plow snow in parking lots and driveways.
