lol - words :) i think my post got Leeroy Jenkinsed

Heh ..

I've been checking out the istick thread, as well as reading reviews from others on FT and poking at a couple of friends who might have used them.

Ah, ok. Another phrase that needs to be added to that long list. :p

Don't they get messy? I've only seen a handful in use, mostly by vape shop owners/staff. I also have four dogs and a sneaky, food-snatching, 7-week-old kitten to think of.

You can try that.... but I thought you said you weren't interested in clouds.

I would coil an RBA 'deck/head/atomizer' (subtank mini etc.) to anything between 0.6 and 1.0 ohm. That's close enough for jazz.

(uh, I don't like Jazz...)

Cloud substance I want -- Cloud chasing is of no interest to me.

I'm currently using 0.5, I believe. It's just not enough. :p

How can you not like f'ing jazz? Heathen.

welcome to ECF Kytten ... sorry, I can't help with the clouds ... I'm a content low watt Tootle Puffer at 7.5 watts.

cheers

It's a damn good thing I wasn't drinking anything. Tootle Puffer? Who comes up with these names? lol

My only issues are with the tank. I like to mix juices as well as switch between different tanks, so I need 2-3, at least... And I can't use metal tanks. For some reason, the flavour and smell of the metal make me feel nauseous.
mm - the tfv4 doesn't really have any more metal content than the kanger subtank mini... with any new tank, make sure you give it a good hot water rinse and dry before use (sans coil) anyway, just to make sure any residue from manufacture is removed (generally not an issue, but if a rinse can prevent a BLERGH! it's worth it) - and the micro comes with chimney extended and glass to essentially convert it into a tfv4 mini (3.5ml capacity) and the top fill is a dream - i have several subtank minis and use em regularly, great little tanks... the tfv4 is darn near epic, though... also worth looking at the uwell crown - .25ohm SS coil rocks in that sucker, but requires about 50watts to shine... could run the .5ohm SS at about 35watts

Oh, I see where you are coming from. Hmm... maybe.

For substance, you could try Temp Control vaping and high VG liquid... but then at the end of the day, it's all clouds really.

I can tootle, I can RDA and I can TC....

Actually, my least favorite is high watts on Kanthal. Nasty.... just toooo hot. :)

I have the bell-styled subtank minis. (Let's see if I can do links, yet)
Since I broke all but one tank's worth of what I had, I need to get a few more.. Going with this style, this time.
$7.78 SUBTANK Mini Styled Bell Cap Clearomizer - 4.2ml / 0.5ohm mini RBA coil head / stainless steel + PMMA at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

My previous tanks were these
$8.31 SUBTANK Mini Styled Bell Cap Clearomizer - 3.5ml / RBA coil head 0.5ohm / stainless steel + PMMA at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Gotta love PC and Acrylic. Even if I can't have (disgusting) cinnamon-flavoured juices.

::Edit::
.... yeah. Links work, now. Woooo

Yeah, I think I might try that before going to 0.3, but I still might drop to 0.4, at least for a test. I don't like hot, either, so anything I can do to avoid the heat but keep the cloud is A+, in my book.

Amy is great. My preferred Jazz is the electro type. The best of two worlds.

Right, that makes sense. Leave it to a woman to make up a hilariously cutsie name for something. :)

she didn't make up the name ... a big cloud vaper did, and used it as sort of a jab

Kat made the name famous with a thread in the 100s of thousands

Couple of points, not sure if this has been mentioned:

Using an RDA (Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer) allows you to quickly switch falvors. If the flavors are similar, you can sometimes just drip the new flavor onto the existing wick and it will be fine after a few hits/drips. If the flavors are markedly different, it takes a simple wick change. Much easier and more economical than replacing a coil in a tank. Using the Subtank RBA allows the same wick replacement but is a bit more involved than a dripper.

The other point is the importance of OHm's Law and vaping safe. If you were using a straight mech mod, it is absolutely crucial that you have a thorough understanding of Ohm's Law, and check all of your coil builds with an ohm meter. It is not as critical when using a variable wattage mod like the iStick since those have built in protection. If you have a short the mod will not fire, and will tell you that there is a problem.

Personally, if you want to vape "hassle-free" you can stick with a mod and tank. I don't think you stated your budget, but my favorite right now is my Wimsec Reuleaux RX200 and Tobeco Supertank Mini. I think I paid $45 for the mod, and $25 for the tank. You will also need three 18650 batteries and a charger though, so that may be a deal breaker. Regardless, the mod has the power for decent clouds, is easy to use, and three batteries last a long time. Here's a pic of mine:

That's extremely helpful! Thank you!

From what I've read (skimmed through) on the links and posts on Bad's battery safety, as well as Mooch's test results, the iStick 50 has a pretty safe battery, yes? Being as there's so much information, it'll take me a few days to actually absorb most of what is in those guides, but for the most part, it looks like most of the safety issues revolve around temperature --- The listing says the i50 has a temp alarm to prevent it getting hotter than 70°C, so that's comforting.

And if I can get a cloud like that by getting a high VG juice, I won't even worry about going lower than .4-.5 ohms.

Yes, I think the i50 is pretty safe (at least mine has been - there have been reports of "wonkiness" with some of the i50s)

It's really about "running reasonable" Even though I have mods that can go to 50-70W, I have yet to push one that far. I think I've only gone to about 25W on my i50.

Yes, there is a LOT of info out here - you don't have to quote chapter and verse all in one day ;) It took me a year before I would even consider sub-ohmming. I had been rebuilding my PT2 heads since about May of last year, and built my first sub-ohm coil in December or January.
