or they may short out, are they supposed to touch each other? They are metal themselves.

I ask because I just received an order of batteries and they were all rolled together in bubble wrap, with each end open. When I grabbed the bundle to pull them out of the envelope, they all came on.

So is it okay for them to touch each other even though they aren't supposed to touch other metals? Or have these batts been damaged?

Thank you for any info you can provide!

batteries can touch each other no problem. The only thing that can damage them is getting liquid down into the hole or if a small piece of metal gets into the open end and touches the center round piece with the outer threaded area and even that wont hurt it unless your trying to smoke it at the same time. If they are the new electronic microphone switch batteries they probably came on when they bumped together because they can be sound or vibration activated. So no worries there Valiegirl.

What happens when there is liquid in battery? Any symptoms you can relay? I have a battery that, when put on the atomizer, has a hard draw. This started happening less than a week after I received it. Before that it seemed to work perfectly. If there is liquid in there, would that cause this?

Thanks,
kevin

I think in my case, it was more the fact they were regular 'style' batteries. i.e. with regular positive/negative poles (top and bottom) rather than contained in a metal case with some kind of switch.
Even so, I would now be careful about just stuffing any of them in a pocket.... now ;) - With my pen style (my favoured device) I use an old pocket cigar case that keeps them apart. If I was using smaller types I would use a modded case or old baccy tin of some kind.

However, I wouldn't be impressed by a supplier sending me any parts just wrapped together without any degree of seperation, just out of care for your product. £5-10 for a batterry is a hell of a price when you think about it.

The liquid in the battery would clog up the switch and possibly cause it to stay on or not come on at all.
