Hi guys,

I've been a vaper for few months and I would like to start building my own coils .
some1 told me that I must buy a Mechanical mod ,do I really have to ? Isn't a vamo good enough for something like RSST or kayfun ?

some say that it's because it's easier to measure resistance ? but what if I simply use a resistance tester?

Guys please help , The ministry of health in my country is going to ban all e-cigs marketing in few months , Including atomizers and mods so I'm very concerned and want to be well prepared with DIY equipment

No, you do not need a mech/unregulated mod to get benefit from a rebuildable.

If you have an APV like the Vamo, just make sure your resistance is high enough (above 1.2 Ohms) to fire with the mod.

With something like a Kayfun running a single micro-coil with cotton, I find 2 Ohms or slightly under is good with an adjustable APV. I like mine in the 8 watt range. If you like a considerably hotter vape over 10 watts, you might wind your coils near the lower resistance possible on your PV.

You can certainly use RBAs with regulated mods as long as your ohms are not so low that the mod sees it as a short. This cut off varies by the device.

The reason I would go with a mechanical mod in your situation is if/when your country bans e cigs, a mechanical will be more reliable/less likely to need repair or replacing. In the event it does fail, a mechanical can usually be repaired with parts from a hardware store and a little ingenuity. If a chip set fails there is little you can do but replace it.

RSST or Kayfun

Terminology nitpick: These are RBAs (rebuildable atomizers), not RDAs (rebuildable dripping atomizers). :)

You can power them all with an Ego battery, as long as you build the coil for an Ego battery. But of course the combination of a large atomizer with a small battery would look kinda odd, and not be very practical.

As For only getting a mechanical if you want to sub ohm, no offense to the member who posted that but I disagree as it's personal preference. I actually started vaping using a mechanical mod, not because I wanted to sub ohm or blow clouds but because starting out I wanted something that would pretty much last me forever and could be easily fixed. In the OP's situation I think getting a mechanical would be benificial for when the time comes that he can no longer purchase them. It is going to last you a long time, so you won't have to worry about a circuit board eventually failing. But for the time being using an RBA on your vv/vw device is fine if your wanting to learn and get good at building coils.

even if your vv/vw goes bad you can still modify it to a mech status

I too was scared of mechanicals but since getting my first one, I'm now up to 3, I'm no longer afraid of them. Read up on safety with batteries and ohms. Watch youtube for references too. Good Luck!!

Ps. When I first started building I did not have any mechs, just apv's. I always kept my builds at 1.2 and up and they worked beautifully.

You don't need rda/rba/subohm for a mech mod, as any atty will work on them. You can use rda/rba with a regulated mod so long as you're not going subohm.

In your situation, you might want to order a mech mod just to have on hand. If all nations made all egos, vv/vw devices, etc., illegal, and if you happened to have a couple of mechs lying around, then you would be set for life, or until they also make batteries illegal. There's very little to break on a mech that you can't fix yourself via local hardware store.

btw, I'm Turkish, but am living in the US. It's a tad worrisome that Israel is going this route; hope Turkey doesn't take note. We're all in the same neighborhood :/

I got my first RDA just under a week ago and was using that on my MVP 2.0 and it worked good for the most part but still had much to desire. Just a couple of days ago I was able to get my hands on a VTR for $30 from a friend of mine and let me tell you it made a huge difference. The thing about the MVP 2.0 and the VTR is I don't ever see myself trying to fix one of these if it were to stop working for me. So that being said I would try to get your hands on some true mech mods that you would be able to fix if needed be. Also if worst comes to worst you could read up on how to make your own mech mod and go from there.

thank you rhean , by the way I've visited anatolia 6 years and loved it.

The situation is concerning of course , I believe there is a very strong lobby of Philip Morris which wants to kill the entire industry.
I will not be surprised that the decision to raise the tax on tobacco smoke brought it up , the government,Philip Morris and Pharma companies are afraid to loose the money and it doesn't seem like they want us to stop smoking , they prefer us to keep paying them taxes and eventually die .

We have 1 vendor who plans to appeal to the supreme court but who knows if Philip Morris won't get involved and invest a lot of money in lawyers to fight the local vendors , about 15-20% of israeli's smoke , only 5-10K of them vape so you understand what we are dealing with ?
Compared to Tobacco companies , we and our vendors are like small bugs they can step on , In the U.S they want to regulate them so they can make tax money out of vapers especially after the american supreme court kicked them in the .... , but here? it's easier for them to just ban it and direct us back to tobacco
