I'm so glad you all seem to be handling your "stress tests" OK. Mine will be in the next few weeks. I am a self employed private courier. One of the things I do is picking up mail at the post office for some ski resorts in the area. (we all have PO Boxes here as they don't do home delivery yet in our rural community) These folks that come to ski mail in their stuff to their condos by the truck load. Not to mention all their mail orders for X-mas, etc. I drive an Expedition and I have had to make 2 trips to the PO, picking up at the loading dock to get everything. Stressful much??? On top of that I losing one of my clients due to cutbacks Jan 1 and almost 40% of my income with it. I am handling things great so far, but not looking forward to the next 2wks.
I will be reading on here for my support group! We will all keep up the good work together!

Losing 40 percent of your income is terrible! I'm so sorry to hear that Kathy!

Hopefully, someone else will step in and fill up the money gap for you, in the form of new clients.

I've been self employed since 1987 and it's been a real ride, that's for sure. Sometimes it's really lonely isn't it? I didn't have anyone but me to rely on and at times I didn't think I could handle it, then the thought of having to work for someone else would hit home and I'd somehow make it through.

Keep us posted on how this goes, you're in my thoughts.

The big question here is, did you smoke or vape during this stressful time??? :)

I have one, too. My 50 year old furnace went out last Thursday night/Friday morning. Outside temps were below zero that night so the timing was bad, to say the least. I woke up to 49 degrees in the house Friday morning and that is when I realized that the old beast wasn't working. Called the repair man, he charged me $95 to show me where to give it a good whack with a screwdriver handle to bring it back to life. He also told me it's on life support and may not work tomorrow, let alone the rest of the winter and that I would just be throwing money away to have them do anything more to it.

So I need a new furnace and wake up every day hoping I can't see my breath in the air. I can't pay for a new furnace, so I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that it keeps us warm just one more winter. But here's the bright side to the story... even amid all of this stress, it did not even OCCUR to me to smoke a cigarette!!! Not even once, not even for a nano-second!!! And when I read Pugzley's story was the first I even realized this! It's truly amazing, and again I owe so much thanks to V4L and you people for making this possible. :)

Good for you, I know that daily stress re: house issues, I've had trouble with this stupid tank since we bought this house and there's seldom a time when it's not in the back of my mind, always wondering when the next episode is going to occur and which time will it be that I have to spend 10 grand for new leach lines. UGH.

Here's hoping your furnace holds out until things are better and you can afford a new one.

I know life happens, but it seems that some of us get more "happens" than others.

You'll be fine, pianoguy. All I had to do was make myself pick up the vaporizer first, before going for the cigs. It calmed me right down, just took a couple minutes longer than a tobacco cigarette would have, that's all.

BTW, do you play the piano?

Excellent!

Yes, I play piano - one of my hobbies is internet music collaboration, been doing it for almost 10 years now. Here are some of the collabs I've done with people from all over the planet:
