If only one gauge of kanthal, what should it be?

Hi All, I've been reading here for ages but this is my first post. I have wanted to start rebuilding my protank coils for some time, but I've recently ordered a Kayfun Lite plus clone from fasttech as well. I use a Sigelei 20w in the house, but Vision Spinners on a mini protank when I'm out. I live abroad and had been putting off ordering kanthal from Temco, but I decided to go for it.

Imagine my shock when I saw they charge $25 PER ITEM for shipping! There goes my plan for buying a little 28, a little 30, and a little 32. It seems if I buy just one item (and I can get a few hundred feet of that), then I get charged the $25 once. So, I now need one gauge that I can rebuild my new incoming Kayfun and my mini protank coils with.

I was thinking 30 gauge, but if you had to chose just one gauge, which would you chose?

Somewhere out there
Check lightningvapes to see what they charge for shipping, they have a web site and also sell on ebay. Their prices for Kanthal are comparable to temco.

I've been using 32G for my protank coils. I aim for 2.2 ohms.

I just re-read your post and see that you want to do both protank and Kayfun. 30g would be my suggestion for a gauge that would work with both.

30ga for Protanks and 28ga for Kayfun. 28ga can be a little tricky on Protanks. Youll need more wraps using 28ga and theres not alot of room in there to position the coil.
That's what I'm getting, they combined the shipping already. Just so people who may be looking for international shipping from Tecro in the future, use ebay and ask them to combine the shipping charges-they will do it. I still paid more for shipping than the cost of the items, but that is life overseas. Thanks everyone for the feedback! If I would have known how quick people here are to respond (and helpful!), I would have posted long ago. It probably would have saved me tons of grief with some of my previous frustrations.

I used Amazon to buy my kanthal wire about a month ago. New to rebuilding (also purchased a kayfun) and grabbed 100ft of 30 and 32 gauge wire with shipping it was $11.05 total. I think the sample wire that came with it (EHPro clone from 101 vape) came with 32 and built a 1.3 ohm coil and used some organic cotton as the wick.

Link to 30ga wire (vendor is vape supply) Amazon.com: Kanthal 30 Gauge AWG A1 Wire 100ft Roll .254mm , 8.36 Ohms/ft Resistance: Everything Else

just did a search for kanthal wire on amazon to find this. Shipping was pretty quick as well.

Or Vape Supply page Amazon.com At a Glance: VapeSupply

I was buying from Temco directly on ebay. I've never used ebay before (being overseas and all), and it appears there is a section where you can ask them to combine the shipping charge into one. If that works, then I can get 30 for the Kayfun and 32 for the mini protanks. Any thoughts on those gauges for those devices?
If you can do that, that would be ideal. If you can only get one, go for the 30 ga. Be sure to torch it good before you build those Kanger coils so you can get good tight micro coils.

I had trouble with using 32 gauge. When I rebuilt my Kanger coils with 30 gauge wire, I had no problem with coming up with 2 ohms resistance. But when I tried using 32 gauge, the resistance read .7 ohms and my VV/VW mods will only fire with resistance of at least 1.2 ohms.

So, for me, 30 gauge is the way to go.
