By the way, an Ohio congressman said that the FDA has already determined that the e-cig is a drug delivery device in a letter to me, so I think they will regulate the nicotine and of course charge us a fortune like analogs.

I think you hit the nail on the head, it's all about the money. It has nothing to do with protecting the public. What will they have to tax and where will the revenue come from when more people stop smoking analogs? From the vapers, of course! Certainly not from consumption of alcohol, that can't be a drug! Too many politicians drink.

I gotta say this cuz it is true...some of the same folks who don't want marijuana legalized are the same folks who don't want e-cigs...reasons being basically the same. Drug companies have a monopoly on nicotine cessation products and of course the tobacco companies don't want us to stop using either. From my view point they are probably in cahoots with each other to stop any product that might interfere with there sales. Pharmaceutical companies, alcohol companies and probably to at least some extent, tobacco companies (along with wood paper mills and cotton and poly or nylon manufacturers) have kept marijuana illegal even though their have been many studies done for medical marijuana. Alcohol distributors are against marijuana legalization because it will cut into their profits also. Paper companies and the cotton industry and man made fibers have kept hemp illegal. E-cigs will only be allowed if it makes one or more of the already established industries a profit.

When they came for the Cheerios, I wasn't a Cheerios consumer, so I said nothing.

When they came for the Nyquil, I didn't use Nyquil, so I said nothing....

The road is being re-paved.
Very GOOD point...we need to stand together or we will all stand alone. A large group is more significant and convincing:p than an individual. Marie

... What is wearying here is not the news, but the mindset that says the FDA is a bunch of idiots out to take away our rights. That is just plain wrong.
TBob, normally I would agree, but as far as I know the FDA posts are political appointees. They are not immune to pressures to support certain agendas, good or bad.

Yeah, I'll 100% agree with you. And its not fair to the people. I would assume that if there was a Chinese herb that cost $.50 to buy that cured Cancer, the government would try to ban it because it was "not safe" so they could make a profit from it by re-naming it.

I'll be suprised if the FDA does find a way to ban ecigs. If analog cigarettes are okay to smoke, with all the chemicals in them, then how is smoking just nicotine any more dangerous? How is it any more dangerous then chewing it in gum, or having it absorbed directly into your skin via patch?
