Thanks for all the replies! I've done quite a bit of research before I even bought it lol That's the way I do it. I will try lowering the coil it's up around where the connector is, might be causing some wicking issues. My wick is touching the base. I didn't dry burn it after I put the wick in it. I used the wick that came with the IGO. I have some more wick ordered and am planning on getting some organic cotton too. I think I'm going to try to find some of the cotton yarn. I'm chalking it up to trial and error and you guys are helping a lot. Just need to get more wick. Thanks again everyone!

Okay. That's gorgeous.

You should do a YouTube tutorial yourself!

Oh, stop! haha. Thank you tho. It took a few tries to get my system and builds down. although, I don't consider this my "prettiest" build. Haha.
But I've thought about starting a new youtube channel just to maybe add to the collection of videos already floating around out there. but honestly don't think I could compare to some of the others (well-known "others" might I add) such as grimm, pbusardo, rip trippers, mcvapes, etc. I am my own worst critic. Haha. I have however, taught some new fellow vapers some basics to rebuildables and what not. So I'm keeping on the back burner. Maybe if I get a few more builds under my belt...and a little more flattery. Haha. Joke!

Well, that might well be your problem right there.

That stuff is so skinny and crappy it's pretty much useless. (Why do they even bother?) I expect your builds will turn out much better when your new wire arrives.

I used the 30ga Vaporwire for the coil. The wick is what I am missing. But the wick that came with the IGO isn't very good either. But it's all I had and I wanted to try a build. Ill definitely try the cotton though. Hopefully Wally World carries organic cotton (either yarn or balls). Otherwise I'll have to drive 45 min to an hour to get to a Whole Foods. :glare:

I use an IGO-W which is very similar to an IGO-L. When i first got my IGO-W every coil i built tasted terrible and it would burn my nose and throat. I tried different gauge wire, different wick, different resistance, nothing worked. The coil wasn't getting enough air. I drilled out the air hole to a larger size and now it is my favorite RDA. Now it blows thick clouds and the flavor of my juice tastes best on the IGO-W. This might help and i suggest you try. It couldn't hurt.

If you go to Wallymart, look for the Peaches n Cream yarn. I boiled mine for piece of mind and it worked well and better than silica. Switching to boiled cotton balls increased flavor and wicking, I don't know why, but it did. When I drip into my IGO, I always add enough liquid so that the base holds enough liquid to wick to the coil.

Don't dry burn cotton (yuck) and please please check out the sub forums for detailed info.

are you talking about drilling out the airhole? or the posts?

if its the posts that you recently drilled out, what size drill bit did you use? and your technique for drilling? hahaha. i'd like to drill mines out too.

I'd like to know your method for drilling out the posts also.

I'll probably give the yarn a try 1st. Seems to be the easier route. Might pick up some organic or sterile cotton balls too and try them. I have 30 ft of kanthal to play with lol

i've tried cotton balls, but idk. for some reason i like the gauze better. the taste is better and the throat hit is not as harsh. and thats how i like my vape. i actually scored the gauze from a friend who works in a hospital so its sterile, medical-grade gauze. but, again, its all personal preference. what works for me, might not work best for you! hope you figure things out!

Tried a little experiment before my trip to Wally World tonight. I went ahead and wrapped a coil that ended up being 2.5ohms. Then since I didn't have any wick material I searched for wick alternitives. I found some people using food grade cheesecloth since it is cotton. Went ahead and boiled it just to make sure. Built the coil lower and made sure the wick was snug but not overly tight. It performed pretty well. Quite a bit of vapor and the taste was good too. I had to crack up the wattage to 10-11. I'll def be making another tomorrow with the cotton I get tonight. Just felt the need to employ some of what has been mentioned in this post. Thanks again to everyone for their input. I believe I'm starting to get it lol I'll continue to experiment and perfect my coils and wicks.
