Tried a little experiment before my trip to Wally World tonight. I went ahead and wrapped a coil that ended up being 2.5ohms. Then since I didn't have any wick material I searched for wick alternitives. I found some people using food grade cheesecloth since it is cotton. Went ahead and boiled it just to make sure. Built the coil lower and made sure the wick was snug but not overly tight. It performed pretty well. Quite a bit of vapor and the taste was good too. I had to crack up the wattage to 10-11. I'll def be making another tomorrow with the cotton I get tonight. Just felt the need to employ some of what has been mentioned in this post. Thanks again to everyone for their input. I believe I'm starting to get it lol I'll continue to experiment and perfect my coils and wicks.

Thats all it is! Trial and error to figure out what suits you best!

Glad you got off to a good start!! Keep us updated on future builds! :)

If you go to Wallymart, look for the Peaches n Cream yarn. I boiled mine for piece of mind and it worked well and better than silica. Switching to boiled cotton balls increased flavor and wicking, I don't know why, but it did. When I drip into my IGO, I always add enough liquid so that the base holds enough liquid to wick to the coil.

Don't dry burn cotton (yuck) and please please check out the sub forums for detailed info.

You said you boiled the yarn for peace of mind, do I HAVE to boil the Peaches & Cream yarn? When you did boil it paid you just do a section or the whole ball? Did it unravel at all when you boiled it? Thanks, sorry for all the questions lol

looks alright! did you test it on an ohm meter?

did you check for hotspots?

i'f try and get even spacing between each wrap next time. other than that looks good! it only gets easier from here1

but hows the flavor and vapor production? to your liking?

No hot spots, reading 1.7ohms. Vapor production is pretty good and flavor is better than the cheesecloth I tried previously. I tried spacing the coils better but no matter what I did they were somewhat uneven. Overall I think it was a success. The cheesecloth coil was reading 2.4ohms.

Looks better than my first few did. I was also really dissatisfied with those. Then I met a dude at a get together that showed me how to make a proper micro coil. I've built a few now and they keep getting better and easier to do. I am not saying switch to micros. I am saying keep playing around and one day you will just have everything work. I was just amazed when that happened for me. I haven't touched any of my clearos since then. Ok I did take one into work but the flavor was so unsatisfying that I stopped after about 3 puffs. I am now sold on dripping. I even do it while I drive.

I'm mainly dripping to taste flavors before I buy them. Also I'm a tinkerer lol I'm waiting for my 1st coil on my Protank to go south so I can rebuild it. There's no way I could drip at work, I'm not sure id do it driving or out & about. I plan on taking a few wicks to my local B&M they let you drip a little and try it. There's a banana I'm wanting to try. 4 people came in and bought it while I was there for 10-15 min max.
