IGO W Issues

Hi all!

I just bought an IGO W rda and have a few questions. It's my first RDA and I have experimented with several different coil builds. I am not getting the vapor production that I would like. I have successfully rebuilt EVOD coils so I don't think it's a coil building issue. Most of the coils I have built are in the 2.2-2.8 ohm range. Running single coil so far, haven't tried dual coil yet. Mainly using cotton wicks. 100% VG most of the time. Using a Vamo 3 and experimenting with the full wattage range. The flavor is good but vapor is lacking. I suspect that the tiny airholes might be the cause. I do have a drill press I can drill the holes out with. Thoughts?

increased vapor production requires increased airflow. start small, test, try again, test.... dont drill big you cant "undrill" a hole

If you're running a single coil and the top has two holes, close one off with a piece of scotch tape. Also make sure the open hole in the top is right in front of the coil when you put the top on, so that the air flows over the coil directly.

Thanks BK and Stosh! Stosh, I have tried to cover the unused hole with my finger and it really doesn't make a difference. I do align the airhole with the coil too. I may try a dual coil setup in a few days and see what happens. I think there is going to be a drill press party soon though!

I would also take the coils down to 1.3 to 1.8 ohm range and wrap around 3/32". I have 2 of the IGO W and both are setup single coil with 1.5 ohm coils. One is running a Halo top cap while the other is running a 5/64" hole in the single hole cap.

Easy way to reduce the resistance is just use one or two less wraps when you build the coil, vape it a while and see how you like it. As far as drilling out the holes, I used a dermel and a diamond rasp, enlarged the hole by very little, try it out for a week, enlarge it a little more if needed, rinse and repeat. It's like adjusting the voltage on a VV mod, a little at a time and see if you like it...

I didn't get the vapor production out of mine until I drilled the holes out to about 2mm. I personally don't think drippers really shine vapor wise until you get down below .8 ohms, but if you don't have a mech or haven't done the research, I wouldn't try it.

Yep, drill out the holes and goto 28 gauge and start off at like 1ohm or so and don't go below until you get better and know what your doing.
