IGO-W Questions

Hey everyone I just bought the IGO-W and was wondering can I use cotton as a wick, and what is best micro coil or just doing the whole regular wrapping coil 4x around.

When I bought it the guy at the vape place made 2 coils and then the wicks.

Also the guy at the Vape place drilled 2 holes on each side of the cap but to me it seems to be drawing too much air where I can't even inhale it because it's too harsh. I'm using 6mg MBV juice. The cloud is pretty thick but way to harsh what should I do?

Also if I can use cotton as a wick what specific kind and can I just by the wire to make the coil at like home depot our something instead of ordering it online.

Any help is appreciated, and also I'm using K101

Check out you tube on how to make microcoils. I use a micro screwdriver that is just smaller then a 1/16th drill bit. Read up on them through the LONG microcoil thread. If you dont have a multimeter then I suggest picking up one. Even a cheap one can help give you an idea on the ohm rating and also if there are any shorts

As for the harshness I have found that you want the coil as close to the airhole as you can without touching the sides. Someone on this forum has figured out that if the airhole is under the coil it will increase the throat hit and if the airhole is above the coil it smooth it out.

As for cotton there are a lot of chooses. Play around until you find a method that you prefer. I take my cotton for real qtips. Wire is also preference and I found also a factor depending on the device you are using. You should be ok with any size on a k100; however, I suggest using 30 gauge to start with. You can pick up this at either local vape shops that may carry it or online from temco's ebay.

Well thank for the fast response I'm gonna have to sit down and dig into this. So the wire you can't buy from a store like hardware ect

Also should the wire be super tight around the cotton

Nope Hardware stores do not sell the wire needed. I suggest Kanthal wire. Its seems to be a general opinion over nichrome wire.

No do not wrap it super tight over the cotton. When making a micro wrap the coil on something with a very small diameter and then make a cotton wick without any clumps (spots where the cotton is not stretched out evenly) This can take some practice to master. But the cotton should be able to just slide back and forth when inserted into the coil since it will swell once it soaks up the juice.

If you are not making a micro coil, I suggest using 3mm twisted silica for a wick. Put the wick on a straighten paperclip or a pin. Then wrap the coils around this. It will not only make it easier to work with when insert it into the igo-w. But once installed and taken the clip out it gives the just right amount of contact without choking anything. he is giving good advice, but being that you are new i would advise you stick to making regular coils and figuring out how it all works and correlates. you can make two regular coils to put in it. as far as cotton goes, CVS and the like kind of store sell giant packages of sterile cotton balls. some will say boil it, others use it straight away. organic cotton balls are also suggested by some, with the same boil it or don't ideas. boiling will ensure they are "clean".

there are also a lot of guides to be found in this forum, as well as discussions on various styles with pros and cons to be found.

as far as how, i'd get 28ga or 30ga kanthal wire and wrap it around a precision screwdriver. since you are going to use cotton, you can wrap and mount the coil on the igo while the screwdriver whatever is on it and then insert the cotton. cotton needs a pretty loose barely touching fit since it expands when wet.

youtube will be your friend as far as learning how to do things if you don't have any local stores to show ya how rather than do it for you.
invest in a cheap voltmeter to be able to measure the resistance of your finished and mounted coils. search this forum as much as needed or more. follow the success of others and dodge the failures of the rest.

Kamil99 is spot on also. I believe 30 is the best option for starting out. it has good surface area while being able to make coils in high, medium, and low ohm coils without being too huge or small of a coil.
I actually started with mini coils on my own before I discovered this place with the paperclip method. Now after reading and playing on my own, I can actually style the wick and wire combo to what a person is looking for and the device used. Thicker wire get warmer faster, etc...
