How well does that nextel wick and taste compared to cotton balls or ekowool?

They both have their merits. You can not destroy Nextel, it doesn't impart any extra taste (in my opinion), and it wicks very well in the right circumstances (does not absorb much but it does deliver it fast). Cotton is great because it also doesn't impart any taste but is somehow a cleaner tasting vape, it is almost free, it is super easy to change out wicks in the coils I like to use, and did I mention it's nearly free?

As pdib put it (paraphrasing): "Nextel is a great wick material but it's not so much "here, hold this for me" as cotton is"

I like Nextel for dripping from the top (but in a top fed rda I like a well that will hold 10 drops or so, might not work so well in something like an octopus) and cotton for bottom feeding.

Made some Dual Micro coils using 1/16th drill bit. 7 wraps of 28awg Kanthal came out to 1.0. Micro coil part was not that hard mine are not as nice looking as Statistic's was but no hot spot and they start heating up middle of the coil and quickly spread out. My issue is I am using cotton wicks and the inside diameter is so small its a pita to get it in there. When I do I put 5 to 6 drops in and take a hit I get maybe 4 pulls then need to drip again. It heats fast and hits hard. It registered at .5 on Vamo and Multimeter though I am using my k100. Yesterday I got my KTS+ which hit a lot harder then my K100(surprised by this I thought it was the opposite) and I dry it out after about two hits. Can cotton handle sub ohm Microcoils? Maybe I need to stuff more wick in but that's hard with out messing up the coils. Side question I have some 1mm silica what size drill bit to use for that in Microcoil set up.

Well, number one it is REALLY easy to put too much cotton in a coil and choke it out. If the cotton doesn't go through the coil easily then you are starting with too much cotton.

.5 ohm allows a LOT of POWAH to run through them coils so yeah.. you're gonna vaporize your juice quick and probaly not get too many consecuitive hits in a row.. which brings me to my next suggestion..

Cotton is great and all but, for me, is not the best wick to use in a low ohm dual coil top feed dripper. It holds a lot of juice but doesn't really move it all that fast. You'd be better off, in my opinion, using a more durable wick material that may not saturate as much but will move the juice from the bottom of the drip well to the coils faster than cotton.

That's why I prefer Nextel in the IGO-W. I imagine 1.5mm Ekowool would work well also.

I haven't gotten around to getting a tiny metric bit set yet.. 1/16" is the smallest bit I have. Not to be a smartass but if you could find a 1mm drill bit that would probably be ideal for making a coil to use 1mm silica with ;)

I have the igo w as well and it is nice. Currently using 3mm silica and 28awg and it hits goods. Waiting on the ekowool to come in so I can see what all the fuss is about. I had to drill out my air hole 1/16 because the initial TH was pretty harsh. After the mod it hit like a freight train. As for wrapping the coil, I get better results by wrapping free hand. When I used the m5 screw method or 1/16 (i think), the coils are symmetrical, but I always have a problem with it.

I love my igo-w. It's my daily RDA. I leave my ithaka at home, and my igo-w gets more use. crazy.

My method, I cut 8 strands of roughly 1 inch silica, 4 strands per coil - I wrap them w/ 28 gauge silica 3 full revolutions. Each coil comes out to 1.0hm. Together I'm at .5ohms. 4 strands of wick, it keeps it moist for a quite a few hits even at that resistance.

MAKE SURE YOU DRILL YOUR HOLES OUT.

I even used a ....ty bit, but it drilled right through it. 3/32 was way too small for sub ohm coils imo. It got crazy hot.

Now that I'm at 1/16 I feel Im in the golden zone. It still gets hot after hours of chain vaping, but i love it.

I just built my igo-w yesterday with airholes drilled out to 1/16 and I used 2 strands 2mm silica with 4 wraps kanthal flat wire (bakero) wrapped kinda like micro coils all touching with no space between the coils and it is quite a superb vape. No hot spots and it came out to .5ohm. I put 6 drops in there and it's good for at least 6 good rips without having to drip again.
