I have this brand new mod, and it heats up on the bottom button and almost scares me... It gets hot, but it also doesn't make me want to use it nor take long hits. It's got a tugboat dripper with 24 gauge Kanthal 6 wraps dual coil. I don't know what ohms it's running at but, all I can say is I'm getting ...... because my local vape shop wouldn't tell me why it's doing that, they said it was good, he hit it a few times, it got hot, but didn't bother him, he has that wooden block mod that holds two 18650's so... I don't know what to do. I think I'm missing a part of the insulator?..

does it have a hot spring?

if the switch is getting hot its because of an excessive amount of resistance, try talking it apart and cleaning everything off.

or the switch is not making a solid contact and the electricity is jumping from the contact to the switch (electrical arc) look for black scorch marks on the contacts.. (i have had a switch do this before on a mech mod)

Quick question, will the battery stay hot if it is the battery that's getting hot?

the battery should feel a tiny bit warm if was just being used. but the warmth should go away seconds after you get the battery out.
if it feels warm or hot for more than like 30 seconds that tells me you are drawing to much power from the battery.

I'm assuming that the button gets hot, but the rest of the tube doesn't, or you would have mentioned that?

Most likely it's a bad connection. Resistance in the button acts just like resistance in the coil; it will heat things up.

Unscrew the button part. Clean the threads (both in the tube and the button) with something like alcohol. Look at the threads, make sure they are clean and well-made. Clean off the screw as well (where it contacts the battery). Screw the bottom onto the tube before you put the top back on; make sure it is tight.

The "missing" piece of insulator looks strange, but it shouldn't be a problem unless the mod is firing all the time.

Does the button heat up rapidly when you fire it? Or does it take several vapes before it gets hot? (Or is it hot when you first pick it up? That would be bad!).

Also, next time the button gets hot, open up the mod right away and check whether the battery is also hot. If so, get rid of the battery and get a new, good one!!!!!!! Right away!

Battery isn't hot afterwards, it's the button, and yes sometimes right away and sometimes a few puffs then it's hot. I think of it as sometimes (sometimes is when I push the button just right and the battery is not on that little insulator) and then when it doesn't get hot, it's because the insulator is doing it's job. But it's more often the button gets hot right away. 3 seconds and it burns my finger, but the battery isn't hot.
